Jumper, an engineering fellow and DeepMind vice-president, then confirmed he was joining Anthropic after nine years at DeepMind. Jumper won a Nobel prize alongside Demis Hassabis for his work on AlphaFold, a programme that was able to predict the structure of proteins. AlphaFold has since been able to predict the structure of more than 200 million different proteins, helping to accelerate drug discovery. Jumper ran DeepMind’s AI for science division.
