So, as well as Meta removing their fact checkers (in the US at least), there's also this

Oddly enough, this concept sounds very apt in respect of Trump and Musk.

Politicians will jump on bandwagons but it's been painful to watch Badenoch and colleagues in action, too conspicuous and almost humiliatingly clumsy too, although shame seems rare these days. While they think it's for their own ends this is probably just putting wind in the sails of electoral rivals. Robert Jenrick seems only a couple of speeches away from wearing khaki fatigues and I can't cite a parliamentary colleague who has called him out.

From the Andrew Sparrow snap verdict --

"And, in terms of saying something that appeals to the rightwing media, Badenoch’s decision to leap on the grooming gangs inquiry bandwagon seems to be delivering. She has had a good press in the Tory papers on this issue. And, with the Speaker confirming her amendment will be put to a vote, she has go to the point where she can run this advertising campaign." -

Her 'ad' plus the blindingly obvious answer from a commenter --

Has anyone seen criticism of Jenrick's race hate speech yesterday from a Tory ?

There's some anonymous grumbling, but that's about it.

Yeah, and this short term Tory "win" because they are forcing an opportunistic vote tonight is being severely overrated by the political bubble.

Not a universally popular opinion on here perhaps, but I am reminded of the SNP playing procedural games over Gaza last spring.

Which apart from being morally disreputable, didn't actually work when it came to the election a few months later.

Good afternoon.

I had a thought. I wondered whether any call for a national inquiry into grooming gangs appeared in Reform's election manifesto.
Stop Child Grooming Gangs
Deport offenders holding dual citizenship. Make
child grooming an aggravating offence. Improve
safeguarding of victims and vulnerable. No bail for
grooming gang offenders
So that's a no then?

Shocked etc.

The difference being the SNP took a moral stance on Gaza from the very beginning. The Tories however are shamelessly jumping on a bandwagon.
