I finished one small wood-shelter, now filling it up with the driest logs from the terrace .
It's going to rain any minute so off to do a final barrowload before it does !

In other news, Ben Goldacre has been living in a hole for the last 20 years and didn't read the paper he wrote for (Liddle's CSAM column was published in the Graun when he was there).

It absolutely pissed down here in Leeds late this afternoon. I headed out afterwards and it was like walking in a sauna as it began to evaporate. It must have been about 99% humidity. Most unpleasant.
This is in Halifax station and it caused me to miss my last bus on Sunday night, resulting in a £9.50 taxi fare from Leeds station and not getting home until nearly midnight. I wish it had said what animals were to blame so I knew where to direct my ire. You would presume it was cows or sheep but who knows? Maybe it was some pissed up badgers fucking about, or a fallow deer stag do that got out of hand. Regardless it severely tested my love of nature.

Re: Tuesday 4th August 2026
As for Rod Liddle kicking the bucket (at a relatively young age to the surprise of nobody), so many gushing eulogies today and not one of them honest.
He was a vapid opportunist who'd say anything for money or the thrill of causing offence like a sniggering child. His political leanings always seemed to coincidentally marry with those of whoever was paying him. Despite claims to the contrary he didn't have a brave bone in his body, for example did he ever own up to the Auschwitz jokes he made on that Millwall forum? I know he claimed he was hacked but those post did sound uncannily like him.
By many accounts, including most of the women in his life, the guy was an absolute twat and I for one didn't mourn his passing. Didn't celebrate it either mind you, more of a shrug. I mean if anyone can provide me with one single insightful thing Rod Liddle wrote during his entire career, just one one single example of his supposed journalistic talent, I'll read one of his books.
