John McAndrew was the name I was looking for -- briefly at the 2022 launch of GBNews , and then Director of News programmes at the BBC, working towards its downfall .

Tice defends suspension of Reform UK activist over Farage criticism
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... -criticism
This is hilarious. I was in the car with my dad and brother last Friday morning and we heard Tim Montgomerie's interview on Radio 5. They were laughing at how far he had his tongue up Farage's arse. I had to explain who he was and how he was once a fairly well respected Conservative commentator. His crawling adulation of Farage was so sickening my dad switched the radio station. And now we hear Tim wasn't being sufficiently obsequious to his lord and master?
Fucking hell, there's none so fragile of ego and quick to take offence than these right wing clowns.

One of the comments refers to Montgomerie previously being an enthusiast for Trump, and Orban.
Such splendid judgement !

Re: Thursday 20th August 2026
It's all very well disappearing off into the wild blue yonder for a week, avoiding the news and social media as best you can, but as soon as you get back the process of catching up with what you've missed begins whether you like it or not and next thing you know you're as sickened and depressed as ever.
Take the tragedy of Jason Arday. I've just spent the last few hours trying to piece together why it wasn't just the right who indulged in a witch hunt against him. From the Guardian to Novara Media the left also put the boot in. Why?
I've watched Aaron Bastani's video where he apologises for his part in it all (calling Arday a fraud), but what he doesn't explain is why. Why did he feel compelled to raise his flaming torch and pitchfork alongside people he purports to despise? Same with the Guardian, they released a statement defending their journalists asking 'legitimate questions' but as far as I can see they were mostly focusing on the kind of trivial exaggerations Arday had made about his CV that they were almost certainly guilty of themselves. We all lie, we all construct our own reality, only a child would suggest otherwise. How many of us would survive a forensic audit of the bullshit we've incorporated into our own personal myth?
Bastani himself admits that Arday's state of mind had been widely relayed to the media before his suicide, so he knew, the left wing media knew, and joined the mob anyway.
And now he's dead.
