First lol of the day went to --

" He mispronounced the party leader’s name as “Weedel” throughout the encounter. "

Elon Musk heaps praise on AfD’s Alice Weidel during live talk on X

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... -talk-on-x
Asked by Weidel when he might “be ready to have human expeditions to Mars”, Musk said he expected to send uncrewed space ships to the planet in about two years, and crewed ships in approximately four.

He said his aim was for “Martians” to be able to rescue earthlings “when there’s an emergency … just like America rescued Europe in world war two”.
Oh dear !

Google 'unemployed GPs uk' and there are plenty of those; nothing left in NHS Trust budgets, salaried GP's even being made redundant in favour of cheaper staff !

A different picture here, and the journo hasn't posed the obvious question -- " Is there an unemployed pool of radiologists and related specialised staff looking for work ? "

A nugget from Wiki --

" Approximately a third of the UK national debt is owned by the British government due to the Bank of England's quantitative easing programme, so approximately a third of the cost of servicing the debt is paid by the government to itself. In 2018, this reduced the annual servicing cost to approximately £30 billion (approx 2% of GDP, approx 5% of UK government tax income)."

and from the OBR Oct2024 -- How much is the UK government borrowing?

"Britain already has 2.8 trillion pounds ($3.5 trillion) of public debt, equivalent to nearly 100% of GDP - lower than in many other rich economies but up from about 35% before the 2007-08 global financial crisis. The COVID lockdowns added to the debt pile."

Fun one from R Murphy --

The first local byelection of 2025 was a LibDem gain from Tories, in Devon.

Not so surprising that so many blue team county councils are begg.....asking the government to postpone their elections due this May.
