Oh look, they're doing bollocks instead of something concrete. Who could possibly have predicted that?

Good morning.

Yeah, doomed.
AI is the greatest force for change in the world right now. I am determined to harness it to usher in a golden age of public service reform.
Starmer should have stuck to law, he's rubbish at everything else.

Ben Ansell

What worries me is not government use of AI per se but the slightly credulous way that the government talk about it, which makes me suspect they will be taken for rubes by the tech companies selling their services.
He could have left out the 'slightly' imo.

rubes " indeed ! :-)

"Air temp up to 0° and ground still at --4 Diesel car only started with some warm air from a heat gun up the air intake ! ( a hair dryer wd work just as well ) .

Splendid pile-on against Owen Jones in the Times Comments .

Many times I've switched off WATO and TOADY when their pro-Israel bias did my head in , so yes Raffi Berg is not a suitable person to be in BBC hierarchy , not to mention that other one, a major shareholder in the Jewish Chronicle .

Open Source info referenced here is a starter --

Some or all the contributors to the above are flaky to my mind, but the evidence speaks !

Off to sauna, woodcuttng when it's warmer later

You have to say that this morning's boosterism is very un-Starmerish. Which makes you wonder who is really behind it i suppose.

I think I might have to bin all my Gaiman books/comics, after reading (half) of this. Content warning for all sorts of abuse, sexual assault & rape

He's not actually committing himself to anything, but both you and Pippa (with her almost wholly spurious "contrast") knew that already.

I must have been dreaming, but I was really SURE the Starmer Party has had the PIP's in their sights for months and months ?

For their Leader the phrase Lick up kick down was already evident in his trips to Washington on those two extradition cases . Plus of course most unusually destroying all paperwork !

Now he is going to be RUTHLESS with many more powerless people.

Surprised ?

Liveblog, IPPR --

"" Our previous research found that AI could either lead to eight million job losses and no GDP gains, or no job losses and GDP gains worth up to £306bn a year. ""

We lost Sky's thoughts on AI, but here 's an example --

SteppenHerring 1 hour ago 47

If you have the time, this video explains what GenAI is doing to the internet.

Precis: Companies are already using GenAI to create documentation on stuff. And it's largely crap. What is even worse is that other GenAIs are using this stuff to generate further documentation - which is even worse. The end stage is that looking in the internet for information will become an exercise in futility.

And then we can all switch off our devices and go outside and play.
