Luckily it's the school holidays and many consultants at the Uni hospital are skiving with their sprogs ( and quite right too ! ) , so the literally scores of local Taxi cum Hospital- Patient Delivery drivers are languishing so a driver was immediately found for one o'clock.

My early Friday morning blood results were transmitted that evening and a sharp-eyed intern read them at some time and the 'non-consultant ' staff did their thing.

Favourite Nurse explained the system --
" Without the interns this place would collapse" !
