Trump was always an unprincipled, narcissistic charlatan. He just used to be a *bit* better at hiding it.

And that change might actually be significantly explained by advancing dementia.

It's hilarious looking at some of the Telegraph opinion columns over the last few days, 'Trump is economically illiterate', 'he can no longer be trusted and we need to cooperate more closely with Europe', 'we should stop sharing intelligence with the US', even that nutcase Allister Heath is saying he's 'jeopardising the global conservative counter-revolution'.

They sneered and told us we were suffering from Trump derangement syndrome, they cheered at the second coming over their mango messiah and salivated over the prospect of him leading a resurgence of the right across the world. And now he keeps shitting the bed and they all look like utter fools. Perhaps if Trump wasn't about as popular as dog shit in this country they might have tried to brazen it out but he is and they know they can't without making themselves pariahs. So what do you do when your saviour turns out to be disappointment? You find another one of course.

Time to say it out loud: Labour talks Left but governs Right - Stephen Pollard

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/0 ... rns-right/
Any self-respecting Conservative Government should have removed the winter fuel payment. Instead, it was left to a Labour Government. (To their shame, the Tories under Rishi Sunak as Leader of the Opposition voted against the cut.)

We don’t yet know the specific changes that the Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall is planning to welfare, but briefings indicate that it will involve “billions” of pounds of cuts. Ms Kendall is no Left patsy and has long spoken of how wrong it is for people capable of working to be paid by the state to do nothing.

And in recent weeks there has been much talk about tightening the eligibility criteria for sick and disabled people to claim personal independence payments. In the year up to August 2024 there were 450,000 more people receiving disability benefits. The figure then was 4.8 million in total. Spending on working-age health-related benefits also rose from £36 billion in 2019–20 to £48 billion in 2023–24.

That is a perfect example of how the last Tory Government talked Right but governed Left – and of how, if disability spending is reduced by this current Labour Government, it will be doing the very opposite.

My Mum has late stage Alzheimer's and she's never threatened to invade Canada.

Seriously though having witnessed the effects of dementia from beginning to not quite end, Trump isn't displaying any of the symptoms. He's displaying plenty of other symptoms but not of dementia. Biden was though.

Always surprised how long he can go on for. Talking complete bollocks of course.
Perhaps just years of practice PLUS the personality disorders!

According to some of his aides during his first term they thought he had learning difficulties until they noticed he was taking vast quantities of Adderall which is an amphetamine prescribed for ADHD. Then there's the caffeine in the constant stream of diet Coke he drinks (he's reintroduced his own special button in the oval office to summon his diet Coke slave) and a diet almost solely consisting of McDonald's (because allegedly he's terrified of being poisoned like some ancient emperor).

Now I don't know about any of you but if I was constantly consuming speed, caffeine, and awful burgers I'd probably be a bit mad and constipated. I did dabble with amphetamines in my youth (they being the goth drug of choice) and I remember being awake for 3 days, feeling insane, and not going for a crap for nearly a fortnight. Thankfully being a lazy sod I decided such an active lifestyle didn't agree with me. Also my friend's teeth falling out was a bit of a wake up call. This is what Trump is taking daily, presumably in smaller amounts.

Speed was the goth drug because it suppresses the appetite when skinny was the look. Models used it from the Sixties to the present but now its most avid user is an obese bloated tyrant it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
