Elon Musk
The Truth About Musk, From His Biographer
A viral Bluesky thread introduced tens of thousands around the world to a first glimpse of a forthcoming biography of Elon Musk. Here—in a single essay—is some of what the world just learned.
Seth Abramson Dec 14, 2024
"" Elon Musk may be an unelected plutocrat, but in six weeks he’ll become co-President of the United States. Unfortunately, many people around the world are only just now beginning to research who Musk really is—not the mythos he spent decades carefully weaving about himself like a cloak, but the hard realities that define the actual man.
Most of what people think they know about Elon Musk is manifestly false. This essay, written by an Elon Musk biographer and based on OSINT research, reveals the truth—or at least a significant part of it. Rest assured that none of what remains is any better. ""
It's a looooong read, the last words --
" It’s not unreasonable to call Elon Musk the world’s first authentic, comic book-style supervillain. Not just as a matter of style but ambition, ethos, and substance."

I see Liz Kendall has shat the bed again.
If you're going to tell millions of women to go fuck themselves at least have the decency to be honest about the reason instead of quibbling about statistics. 'We don't want to spend the money'. There how hard is that. Starmer's effectively admitted it anyway.
Besides the fact it's a complete betrayal of a multitude of previous Labour promises this once again looks absolutely bloody awful politically. There's no empathy or emotional intelligence in evidence at all. Just a callous disregard for those who've suffered injustice and bullshit excuses for not doing the right thing. It's shameful.

To be fair, it was all over bar the shouting regarding this one as soon as Corbyn went. And the fact remains that bunging it in as a panic stricken bribe halfway during the 2019 GE campaign was a damned awful look and a sure sign that affair was not going to end well.
(and the pensioners all still voted massively Tory anyway, who would ever have guessed)

Ha. Glad you've picked up that photo of Liz with Waspi, bloody hypocrites.
For the sake of consistency I'll repeat my rant on the subject, being one of the worst affected.
I was fine with the 1995 change, knew about it as soon as it was announced, seemed fair enough. Unimpressed by those who claim they didn't know, did they really think it was ok to go on getting their pension 5 years sooner than a man?
OTOH, was incandescent with rage at the 2011 change which initially moved my pension date out almost 2 years at 7 years notice. Such was the outcry at the time that they mitigated it slightly, pulled it back 5 months. That's the change we should have been compensated for.
Jobs for older women aren't so easily available, particularly in the more economically backward areas of the country.
I never for one moment thought that there would ever be any compensation, what a waste of time and effort the campaign was.
Govts can do what they like.

Welcome back Gilsey. I was afraid we'd lost you.
