Has any newly elected government shed so much of its support as quickly as this one in living memory? I can't think of a single other example.
It's incredible really and they've got nobody to blame but themselves. They're facing a rabble of bedraggled Tories and a joke of a party run by a man most of the country despise. Perfect conditions one would have thought yet they've still managed to fuck it up.
How? I would suggest misplaced arrogance for a start. Their huge majority was an electoral fluke rather than a reflection of public support yet they've been carrying on as if they thought they were untouchable. Then there's the lying. The lies about the Winter fuel allowance cuts only affecting rich pensioners, the lies about their planned benefit cuts. It's all very well spouting these lies in the media to clueless journalists but most of the public know a poor pensioner, or someone just surviving on PIP, and as we've just seen in Runcorn they're not falling for it and resent being lied to. We keep being told by Labour insiders that it doesn't matter, that when push comes to shove enough people will still vote Labour to keep out the Tories and Reform. Well you've just lost a seat where you had a 14 thousand majority you fucking imbeciles.
And what do we get from Starmer? Any sign of humility? Any indication that he understands just how disastrously wrong their approach has been?
Of course not. Just more excuses and meaningless platitudes. An empty shell of a man leading an empty shell of a party. The only way things will improve is if enough Labour MPs insist upon it because it's clear Starmer, Reeves, McSweeney et al aren't going to have a sudden Damascene conversion. They'd rather take us all down with them than admit they were wrong. Will those MPs have the backbone to do it before it's too late? I doubt it.

Been watching the BBC election coverage and it's the same message time and time again from Labour Councillors being interviewed who've lost their seats.
Winter fuel payment cuts. Disability benefit cuts. Taking from the least well off and most vulnerable. Not being 'Labour' enough.

Goddammit. I was supposed to be going on a boat trip up the Scottish coast tomorrow but it's been cancelled due to the wind forecast.
Mumble mumble...fucking Starmer...mumble mumble.
