"Does he think the 28 Reform councillors elected on May 1 will be a thorn in his side as leader?
“I hope not. I hope they see that we’re doing the best we can for the residents of Cornwall. If they want to be a critical friend, I’m happy with that – that’s what the opposition should be. I hope all the groups will be that critical friend.
“We do have viewpoints that align in terms of council debt and making sure we get value for money. As a group we’ve offered to help them in chairmanships and vice-chairmanships. I’m all for this being a collegiate council. I want to work across the chamber to do the best for our residents.
“If they choose not to work proactively and just be disrupters, that’s their choice at the end of the day. I have said to them, let’s work together and so far the conversations have been good.” " ((( Still ????)))
I did not expect the FT to come out as pro Gaza. They're very late to the party, but this does feel a little significant.

Good thread on the Daily Fail outrage story about an independently-schooled pupil being denied healthcare on the NHS because of where he goes to school. Cue frothing by Tory MPs.
Trouble is that it is due to commissioning rules brought in by the Tories themselves in 2014. Basically the LA commissions services for state school pupils in their area, so doesn't include pupils in private schools.

A friend came to visit today, we went for a stroll and it started pissing down so we ducked into a nearby bar. Asked for a medium glass of red wine. £7.10.
For fucks sake.
I remember when red wine was a working man's drink, famously men would take bottles of Merlot or Malbec down the pit with them, emerging afterwards mysteriously wearing onions round their necks and coughing as they tried to smoke unfiltered Gitanes.
Last weekend I was charged £6.90 for a pint in Newcastle.
