A man and woman have been arrested after NHS nurse Apple Moorhouse was attacked in Halifax park.

The couple asked if she “came here on a rubber boat” before performing Nazi salutes and assaulting her.

Both remain in custody.

It's a tough one. I've been watching a survivalist show called 'Alone' for years (CH4 did a laughably awful British version) where people have to live off the land in harsh environments until there's only one of them left. Most of them are American hunters and besides the odd arsehole they're more often than not passionate environmentalists with a genuine respect for the land and the animals they hunt. They're not pissed up posh wankers blasting away at birds with shotguns for a laugh. In fact most of them are piss poor and living off the grid in backwoods homesteads, they hunt to eat, not for sport.

However there is another show called 'I Was Prey' which as the title suggests is about being attacked by animals. Mostly sharks, alligators and bears. The latter provide the most amusement because it's invariably some dumb fuck MAGA types wandering into the woods with big guns thinking they're awesome before being horrifically mauled or killed by an angry Ursine. I remember one particularly amusing episode where a father and son went up into them thar hills all tooled up intent on trophy hunting and enraged a Grisly by wounding it with a poorly aimed shot. It got hold of the father, began mauling him, and as he screamed 'shoot it' to his son his slack jawed progeny managed to shoot him instead of the bear before running away. Comedy gold.

So hunting is a morally ambiguous pursuit. I mean I happily eat venison from red deer culled by Scottish hunters but I would spit in the eye of anyone shooting wolves in Sweden (not least because wolves taste awful by all accounts).

I've seen some nasty racist shit's been happening in Yorkshire, from York to Halifax.

It's weird. I live right next to Harehills, the epicentre of immigration in Yorkshire. I'm not going to say it's great. It's a run down shithole sadly. Cheap shoddy housing for short term tenants mostly. Like all of these back to back housing areas in Yorkshire it was originally built for mill workers until they closed then ended up immigrant ghettoes. First for Jews, then the Irish (there was still one remaining Irish bar when I turned up), and now a weird mix of Muslims from various countries and Catholic Roma who seem to have formed some kind of alliance. I used to have a Polish friend who worked for a charity building bridges between both communities and she seems to have done a good job before morons voted her out of the country.

Curiously we have no heroes in St George capes tying English flags to our lamp posts or spraying roundabouts round here. Because they'd be shit scared to come here despite the fact the most trouble I've had tonight living next to scary immigrants was a fox loudly licking a bin I have outside to catch rainwater to water my garden. I presume it thought there was food in it and despite shining a torch in its face 3 or 4 times and asking it politely to stop I ended up having to resort to a water pistol.
