Tang said that the corruption charges against Zhang and Liu were unlikely and stemmed from political accusations related to their open disagreement or defiance with the CMC Chairman responsibility system. According to Tang, they prioritized military effectiveness over excessive political control of the military and resisted directives they assessed as unrealistic, particularly Xi's demands that the PLA be capable of invading Taiwan by 2027, a timeline Zhang reportedly saw as more realistic by 2035. Tang said that there was growing resistance across the PLA to political interference by Xi which posed a serious challenge to his authority. The fact that such internal discord became visible within the PLA and even hinted within official statements, underscored its seriousness and likely played a role in Zhang’s downfall.[33]
Zhang was perhaps the only surviving general who had seen combat, commanding company and a battalion successively in the Sino-Vietnamese Wars . One hypothesis going around is that he was not an enthusiast for war, having been there . This is backed up by a letter going around, purporting to be by him === quite a story !
As in Russia Chinese generals are dropping like flies as Xi concentrates power in his hands. Time for another Special Military Operation ?

Diffusé en direct il y a 13 heures CCP politics & factional wars
One week after Beijing announced investigations into top PLA commanders, an even darker pattern has emerged. Multiple generals are confirmed dead, while others are rumored to have died, all within a shockingly short time frame. As questions swirl around Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli, the unexplained deaths of senior PLA figures, silence from key theater commands, and strange signals from state media point to panic and internal fracture inside China’s military. This episode breaks down which deaths are confirmed, which remain rumors, and why Xi Jinping may be facing his most serious legitimacy and control crisis inside the PLA.

I see the Tories have chosen an ex-copper TERF for their by-election candidate
She is also a trustee of Sex Matters, a charity which advocates for gender critical perspectives and for single sex spaces, and has been involved in local Conservative politics in Bolton.
Remember Joanne's just trying to protect children. She definitely didn't try to have dinner with a convicted paedophile 5 years after his conviction.

Apologies for the lack of QT review last week, I received a few worrying messages from a friend of my Dad so decided it was best to head up there and investigate. Happily everything was fine, well apart from the force 5000 gale that had blown all the sand off the beach (literally, I wish I'd taken some pictures).
It's that Northern bloke thing, my Dad's in mourning but is useless at expressing his emotions, while his friends/drinking buddies are equally useless at interpreting/expressing them, so as a result wrong ends of sticks were got and I had to travel hundreds of miles to sort out something they could have done themselves in five minutes if they'd just sat and had a chat over a coffee rather than 7 pints.
I got him out on Friday night for drinks with the sender of the concerned messages to a new bar in town and did they discuss said concern in any way? Of course not, the conversation went something like this:
"Wasn't this a butchers when we were kids, what was it's name again?
"It was Armstrongs' can you not remember his lad was at school with us, he got a black eye once so we called him Panda?"
"That's why we called him Panda? I never knew. Did you know he's back? I had a pint with him in The Thatch last week."
"He'll be hovering about because his sister's got cancer and he'll be after the house. He was one hell of a footballer, had trials for Hibs and Newcastle, but he couldn't keep off the drink."
"Aye, he was always a plonkie*"
And such like. Not the slightest attempt to deal with anything even remotely meaningful while displaying astonishing snobbery about where they think they stand on the alcoholic scale.
*Plonkie. As I pointed out to my Dad I presume comes from plonk hence he was being unfair to this 'Panda' unless cheap wine was indeed his preferred tipple.
My mother's ashes are sitting in a box on the dining room table. He's complaining about not being able to do anything or go anywhere without being reminded of her. So I said put her in a cupboard and go away on holiday.
Life's a fucker at times.

Hey, regarding QT. You avoided having to watch Konstantin Kisin, so I'd take that as a win,

Mandelson's gone from Labour. Now strip his peerage and prosecute him for working against the UK government.
