You can have any PM you want , as long as they do what Jamie Dymon wants !

The boss of JP Morgan, Jamie Dimon, has warned he could scrap plans to build a new £3bn UK headquarters in London if Keir Starmer is replaced by a new Labour prime minister who is hostile to banks.

JP Morgan revealed plans last November to build the tower in Canary Wharf, hours after lenders were spared tax hikes in Rachel Reeves’s autumn budget following strong lobbying by the banking sector.
...
Dimon has publicly praised Starmer and Reeves in the past, and said on Tuesday that Starmer was a “smart guy”. However, JP Morgan stressed in November that the Canary Wharf tower plan would depend on “a continuing positive business environment in the UK”.

Questions were recently raised about the financial inducements the company has sought from the UK government to build the skyscraper. JP Morgan has requested a discount on its business rates, according to documents produced by Tower Hamlets council, despite having reported a net income of $57bn (£43bn) in 2025.

Perhaps the materials and skilled labour involved could do something more useful,

like housing ?

Wes Streeting will resign as health secretary tomorrow to challenge Keir Starmer for the Labour leadership, according to Aubrey Allegretti and Patrick Maguire from the Times. They report:

Wes Streeting has told allies that he is preparing to resign and trigger a leadership contest as soon as tomorrow.

The health secretary confronted Sir Keir Starmer this morning during a meeting ahead of the king’s speech that lasted just 16 minutes over the turmoil engulfing the Labour party.

Allies of Streeting who have spoken to him directly said that he has made clear that he is “going to go for it”.

They said that he is likely to resign on Thursday and mount a formal challenge for the leadership
Yesterday there were reports that EdM would stand against him. Chaos!

Having Starmer replaced by Streeting would be like recovering from cancer then contracting ebola the next day.

I have no idea what Labour's rules for a leadership contest are under such circumstances, but I can only hope, if those two are the only contenders, that's it's something like when Kirk fights the Gorn in Star Trek.

Seriously though, if Streeting does cross the rubicon tomorrow, and it results in an uncontested coronation, wake me up in about 10 years because I'm going to find a cave and try to hibernate through the worst of what's to come.

Though it might take me a while to put enough fat on to survive a decade in hibernation, especially with the price of Greggs these days. I was in York this lunchtime, thought I'd get a coffee and sausage roll. Nearly 4 quid. Fuck that. It's a mass produced snack and a bargain basement brew. It's meant to be cheap. I'd like to say I ended up going to a local greasy spoon cafe but this was York so the best I could do was a Sainsbury's meal deal (still cheaper the Greggs).

Then I got severely rained on and my friend (female) had to put my trousers on her heated towel rack to dry while I sported her husband's Lycra cycling leggings, which I have to admit were rather comfy. I might get some for relaxing in at home.
