Morning all.

Got the morning off work, waiting for a BT engineer (my internet has gone wonky). No chance of a lie in - the booking is for 8am-1pm.

At least my house is a little cooler than the office would be, only 24C at the moment.

My internet is faster than dialup again!

Up very late, I listened back to the 6AM beginning of Today for a quick fix, then OFF !

So, Al Carns had a big splash by Charlie Parker on Sunday evening's Times, on how he just HAD to see Burnham's 'PLAN' before supporting him, in which case he'd graciously accept a cabinet position .

I'm on BT's cheapo dole scrounger special and that's fixed at 36 Mbps which is more than I need, even when purloining 4K films. So maybe your question should be is it good enough for what I need it for? A 4K stream needs about 20 Mbps so unless you're streaming multiple Ultra HD videos simultaneously then the answer is yes, it is.

It peaked at 29.1° in here earlier this evening and is now very slowly starting to cool down, though it's still in the 28's.

It doesn't feel as bad as it has previously though, presumably because the humidity is lower. Plus after a random chat with a lady who works at the counter in Argos when I was last there I'd prepared a few frozen bottles of water. The idea being you place your bottle of ice immediately behind your fan so it draws in the cold air and blasts it at you.

Once it cools down I'm going to have to go back and thank her because it really does make a difference.

Very sneaky as Im keeping everything shut, apart from upstairs at night,for cooling

The other night I went bed and without even looking picked up the book I'd been reading* and nearly shat myself. Clinging to its cover was an evil looking arachnid which I afterwards identified as a male noble false widow spider. God knows where it came from but it went out the window pretty sharpish. Apparently they can give a pretty nasty bite. Worse than a hornet sting though? I dunno. From experience one single bumblebee sting was worse than 12 wasp stings (after I inadvertently stood on their nest), and a hornet's just a big wasp isn't it?
