Streeting denies crying or even being in Parliament today: "Of all the bizarre speculation I’ve read in recent days, this is the best. I wasn’t even present, let alone involved. Hope my doppelgänger is ok though" ""

A reminder that PoliticsUK is run by a Reform councillor. It's probably safe to say that the "Wes Streeting crying in a lift" story is not as reported.

I was disappointed firstly to hear SKS At PMQ's praising himself for his 'eradication of antisemitism in the LP', and then by the quantity of applause he received --

No more comments on Politics Live Blog - this is a real shame - one of the best engagement, informative and humorous features of the Guardian.
I guess I'll have to start commenting on things like "Benjamina Ebuehi’s recipe for raspberry, cardamom and mascarpone tart" - good to see these comment sections are being retained. FFS

It's 24° in here now, previously I'd have thought that was a bit warm but after the last week it's bliss.
Could I just say something about Ann Widdecombe? I'm not going to lie, when I heard she'd died I thought, 'Oh well, that's a shame.' In the way you do when someone you don't like kicks the bucket. But then when I heard the circumstances I was horrified. And that's certainly true of my leftie friends I've been watching the football and drinking with. A total agreement that she was awful but what's happened to her is awful.
The only people who don't seem to share that view that I can see are Reform, they're doing everything thry can to milk the poor woman's murder for every political dreg they can wring out of it, especially that ghoul Yusuf, it's genuinely shocking. Though why I should be surprised that people like that can display such a lack of humanity and respect, even for one of their own, is beyond me. I should have known better, but it would seem the barrel Reform are prepared to scrape is truly bottomless.

Equal length legs is good.
A friend of mine had Perthe's disease as a child which went undiagnosed for years leaving him with his left leg getting shorter than his right into adulthood. Every time he buys a new pair of shoes his leg has to be measured by the NHS so the sole can be raised by the correct amount, which apparently the NHS also do. Since last year he's been told he needs a hip replacement and needs to do the required exercises to build up strength in preparation. Has he done that? No. While he limps along like some drunken peg legged pirate moaning if we have to walk more than 5 minutes to a pub.
