If I donned a balaclava and stood in the middle of the road stopping traffic while claiming I was protesting the exorbitant price of Heinz beans what do we think would happen? Would the police simply say, 'On your way sonny' and let me wander off? Of course not. At the very least I'd be causing a public nuisance, which is a criminal offence. I'd be cuffed and in the back of a police car in no time. Yet dozens of idiots in fancy dress block a major port and they're allowed to just leave? Not even a few token arrests? Honestly what the fuck?

I like to think I haven't got an authoritarian bone in my body but even I was astonished that they were allowed to get back on their buses and disperse back to wherever they came from without any repercussions. I'm seeing some arguing that making a fuss would only encourage them which is ludicrous. How many times must it be demonstrated throughout history that if you give fascists and inch they'll take a mile? They need to be told if anything like this happens again the state will come down on them like a ton of bricks. None of this mealy mouthed bollocks making it sound like all they'd caused was some kind of traffic violation.

Look at what's happening in Saxony right now, or what Sinn Fein faced in Dublin once the far right had been allowed to sow their malignant seeds. None of this is new, we've seen it all before, yet the centre left and right seem bafflingly incapable of learning any lessons from history. You don't counter fascists by making buses cheaper or increasing the growth of the economy by 0.2%, and you certainly don't counter it by letting them get away with stunts like this.
