Someone made a decision to use these unaccredited labs. Given the very clear negative consequences of this decision, I think the public deserve to know which minister signed off on using labs that haven't yet received the accreditation normally necessary to do this work.

Just in case anyone doubts the above chart, I can confirm that everyone round here in NE Somerset are going down with Covid at the moment. The schools are rife with it. The vaccine for 12-15 year olds came too late. My daughter had her vaccine last Thursday but tested positive on Monday. Luckily she isn't too unwell but some of her friends have been quite poorly and they're all missing a lot of school. Basically schools returned in September with no bubbles, no masks or any other mitigations, relying instead on vaccines even though they didn't roll out until many weeks after the start of term. Meanwhile the lab scandal means we didn't have even a minimally effective test and trace and the result of this mismanagement is clear, Covid is completely out of control here.

Graphs can sometimes be misleading, I rather doubt if that one is however.

Good morfternoon.

Sky TV News is reporting that Ed Miliband is doing PMQs today. Keir Starmer has tested positive for Covid, and Angela Rayner is on bereavement leave. Don't know who's doing the Budget response.

That's it for the good news, I suspect - unless Ed Miliband also does the Budget response, although it'll probably be Rachel Reeves.

Reeves would normally do the end speech of the Budget debate next week, so genuinely intrigued about what will be done here.

Lisa Nandy is an intriguing thought, especially since some now think she would have done a better job than Starmer.

According to the Guardian, it's going to be Rachel Reeves today.

Yeah, saw that just after I posted. Wonder if that means Starmer will do the end of debate thing?

Nice try at pretending to restore the cuts made to Overseas Aid.

The OBR doesn't think too much of freeports...the fact that we had them and then gave them up is quite telling.

Thanks. She's stuck in her room for half term, unfortunately, but is supposed to be revising for her year 11 mocks anyway so maybe not such a bad thing and she's got the internet. I worry about older people with so many cases around, though, as many of them haven't had the booster yet and there's hardly any masks or social distancing anymore.

Pleasant CLEAN-water immersion at the beach today with visitors whose fellow-swimmer friends in Johnsonia tell that they are now landbound .

Yet another opportunity for NI to import chemicals for resale, at a profit of course ?
