Hotline was expected to handle 3,000 calls a week, but took fewer than that in five months
After Russia invaded Ukraine in February, call volumes to the hotline increased, with 1,946 calls taken in March, but 61% of those had to be referred on to staff from the Department for International Trade (DIT). Launching the service last autumn, the international trade secretary, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, called it a “fantastic new one-stop shop service” (Guardian - my emphasis)

Leaving aside the issue of how to spend the money, where do these people think the energy co profits came from?Polly Mackenzie
@pollymackenzie
I remain completely underwhelmed by calls for a windfall tax.
It isn’t help. It’s a way of paying for help. And there is plenty of headroom for helping without a new tax.
If they do a windfall tax and still don’t put money into the benefits system we still have a problem.
Prices have gone up because of international pressures so they've put our bills up in line and those profits have come out of our money, ffs. Why should they get to keep it, or hand it out to shareholders?
No sign of EDF going bust because Macron told them they couldn't put people's bills up, afaik.

Good afternoon.
I see that the C of E not wanting someone to be one of their vicars who seemed determined to carry on with his media career and not focus fully on his job, is now a sign of being "cancelled."
His story can be found exclusively in the Express, Mail, Telegraph and all the usual right wing outlets...

Who could ever have foreseen that chucking the junior Number 10 staff under the bus would have this sort of outcome? Apart from almost everybody, that is.
