Wow , I wasn't aware that they paid ANY tax at all, but obviously any is too much for those greedy bastards :-)

Asked my sis if she cd provide an archive link to check out the article, but now another idea for that ... :-)

PS I took out the Gilsey link, to save screenspace for users :-)

We literally have the dumbest, most venal people in charge of this country. The correct thing. The good thing. The *popular* thing is literally the opposite of this.

"" But a Treasury source suggested Reeves would hold talks with the US on the issue, in which she is likely to come under pressure to scrap it given Trump has promised retaliation against countries that “have any tax rules in place, or are likely to put tax rules in place, that are extraterritorial or disproportionately affect American companies”.

The source said: “We look forward to engagement with the US on this matter to understand any concerns.”

Phew . That's alright then, what chance do those TrumpoYanks have against our very own Iron Chancellor ?

"" Academies outside local government control now make up half of state schools, but Labour’s Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill will curb a host of their freedoms. Bridget Phillipson, the education secretary, has insisted she is not against academies, after claims that she is repudiating a focus on choice and standards that began under Tony Blair.

Allies say she is focused on “what works” and that changes are needed to deal with a host of emerging problems, with academies now making up 85 per cent of consistently poorly performing schools.
""

So the half of state schools under local government control have only 15% of the poor performers ?
Tho that statistic may explain less than it appears to at first sight ....

More families will miss out on first choice school under reforms
A government assessment found the ability of popular schools to expand will be restricted. But ministers say their changes will save other local schools

Someone needs to give Starmer a slap and tell him there are other voters in this country, than just Tories & Reform. They can kick McSweeny in the balls while they're at it.

Harassment of journalists and activists over much of Europe , as police conveniently refuse to see the difference between supporting the P people and supporting Hamas .

Shocking even if they were meant to be private, really didn't think he was like that either.

Nothing outrageous so far :-)

Tho a reminder of how so many got worked up and distracted by Hodge&Co's manufactured crisis ...
Following the trade union boss Len McCluskey’s claim that some Labour MPs were “polluting” the leader’s efforts to tackle the problem, Gwynne was asked whether antisemitism was being used to attack Corbyn.

“No,” he replied. “And Jeremy has made very clear that [he does not accept] the notion that these are smears against the Labour party.

“It is perfectly acceptable for Labour MPs to call out antisemitism in our party and in our movement and it is incumbent on our party and on our movement to act and root it out.”

He said people needed to “acknowledge that there is an issue of antisemitism on the left of British politics”.

“It’s not just something that affects the right of British politics – there is an element in the left. It is a small element.”

No matter how bad things seem always remember others have had it worse. For example you could have been a fox in 18th century Germany.

Fox tossing

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_tossing
Fox tossing would take place in an arena, usually either created by setting up a circle of canvas screens in the open or by using the courtyard of a castle or palace. Two people would stand six to seven-and-a-half metres (20 to 25 feet) apart, holding the ends of a webbed or cord sling known as a Prellgarn or Prelltuch ('bouncing cloth') which was laid flat on the ground. An animal such as a fox would then be released from a cage or trap and driven through the arena, across the sling. As it crossed the sling the participants pulled hard on the ends, throwing the animal high into the air. The highest throw would win the contest; expert competitors could achieve throws of as high as 7.5 m (24 ft). On occasion, several slings were laid in parallel, so that the animal would have to run the gauntlet of several teams.

The result was often fatal for the tossed animal. Augustus II the Strong, the King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, held a famous tossing contest in Dresden at which 647 foxes, 533 hares, 34 badgers and 21 wildcats were tossed and killed.
We really are a delightful species.
