Finally got round to watching...
One Battle After Another
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt30144839/
(no spoilers)
I can see why the critics love it because it's technically flawless film making but given it's somewhat pertinent subject matter it's lame stuff.
It's difficult to explain my criticisms without giving the plot away but suffice it to say it's left versus far right, including scenes extremely reminiscent of what's been happening in Minneapolis. The film clearly wears it's political allegiances on its sleeve, DiCaprio is a drink and drug sozzled ex-revolutionary hero, like a lesser Lebowski Dude (he even wears a dressing gown through most of the film), trying to save his daughter. The problem is who he's trying to save his daughter from. I had the same problem with this as I did with Blackkklansmen. The far right are portrayed as cartoon caricatures. Sean Penn does his best as the villain but he's so one dimensional he's like a really boring Wile E Coyote.
It's a technically brilliant film and I can see why critics loved it, but when it counts it pulls its political punches and ends up being a mildly entertaining caper rather than the film it could and should have been.
6.5/10
