Re: Easter Bank Holiday 3rd - 6th March 2026

Like all the best things in life marmalade is actually Scottish. Well apart from the fact that the Scots ripped it off from the French who ripped it off from the Portuguese.

I knew that. Many, many years ago when my sister was at uni she brought a Portuguese student home with her for a few ...

Good morning.

Does anyone outside London listen to podcasts? Can't imagine why you would, except on a long commute.

Long read about military targeting. I missed the suggestions that the Iran school bombing was down to AI, the truth is more interesting and leads to Palantir. Hard not to conclude ...

Good morning.

Thanks to sky for the QT review. I found it unwatchable and gave up after 10 mins, no idea how many drinks I'd need to get through it.

Re: Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th March 2026

Good morning.

Have moved house, not much fun but it's done.

No WiFi yet, a friend helped me with using the phone as a WiFi hotspot for the tablet, I'm now wondering if would work with the PC as I'm old fashioned and prefer a keyboard. The PC is quite new so I'll try it when I get it set up.

Good morning.

Good turnout for a byelection, 47.5%.

Peter Kellner:
For Labour the result is plainly catastrophic.
Curtice:
the Conservatives lost their deposit with just 1.9% of the vote, their worst ever byelection result.

Re: Wednesday 25th February 2026

Good morning.

My house move is definitely on for next Wednesday, we even managed to exchange contracts yesterday, a whole week before completion, which apparently is a luxury.

@refit, presumably you don't drive? I imagine they'd have stopped you if you did.

Re: Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd February 2026

Sky asked the other day if we were enjoying the Winter Olympics. Yes, but I enjoyed it a lot more when I could watch it on Eurosport, or even Discovery+ online. The BBC's studio chat when there's actual sport going on is maddening. Unlike sky, I would have liked to see more ice skating.

@ sky, good ...
