Re: Christmas 'Week' 23rd - 30th December 2025
A very quiet and sensible Christmas to all of us! And , if at all possible, a much better New Year. Let the healing hand from above (interpret as you want) clear up the various infirmities reported on this forum recently. Good food, good drink, good presents for all. Not at all bah humbug!

@sky - very sorry to hear your news. However much it was anticipated, it’s still a dreadful wrench. My mum died very painfully from cancer which was chilling to watch. Assisted dying should not be blocked by the HOL. A bit emotional I know, but you have my sympathy.

Top notch QT review as usual @sky. You managed to bring Mr Stringer in at the end instead of his Parliamentary opponent Mr Stuart but that was the statutory forgivable mistake!

As we were out on Saturday, I've just managed to watch the recording of England Women's rugby victory over Canada. Excellent fillip for those of us who needed it! Ellie Kildunne is without doubt the rugby star of the moment.

Do not approach Tommeh , you people in Tenerife, he's quite handy with them :-)
I’ve carefully scrutinised all new arrivals at breakfast and by the pool and am pleased to confirm that we haven’t bern blessed by his presence…yet. Mind you, our place is a bit below his standard (grifted) hotel ...

@sky Lucky they didn’t beat Germany or I couldn’t have made the quip about two on the trot. They would, of course, have blundered and fluked their way past them too!

@sky PS all four of those teams mentioned could do with a bit of England’s luck and doggedness to bolster their undoubtably superior skills, then they too might win two Euros on the trot

@refit Cheers!

Pleased to say we have BBC 1 on our Tenerife TV listing so have been able to follow the football. Unfortunately, as we go into extra time, we have a restaurant booking for 7.30. Penalties and we’re late. Luckily it’s very close! They’ve done much better than I expected - or even hoped!

Looks like the spanking administered by the French to our English Women’s team, so enjoyed by @sky, has worked wonders! And I do think they’ll probably be beaten by Spain/Germany this weekend - but in the end, who knows?

Can’t disagree with your riposte. Just think it could be a lot worse, without in any way endorsing the way it’s going at the moment. Eternally optimistic, I suppose!
