" Boots on the ground" is so very the last War and the several before it .

Luckey, then 20, with his Oculus Rift VR headset —
he sold the company for $2 billion to Mark Zuckerberg ( ALAMY phot )
Flush with cash and frustrated with Silicon Valley, he turned his hand to making lethal weapons.

Anduril — which is named after the sword of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings and means “flame of the west” in the fictional Elvish language Quenya — was valued at $14 billion last summer, almost double its valuation in December 2022.
In the London office--
There’s the autonomous shark, known as “Ghost Shark” or, officially Dive-LD, perched in the corner. Next to it is Altius, a loitering munition that can destroy targets 100 miles away, and behind us is Anvil, an autonomous quadcopter drone that can attack other types of drones.
The centrepiece in the waiting area is the firm’s sentry tower — an autonomous surveillance facility — which is already installed on the UK’s southern coast helping to detect migrants arriving in small boats. The towers are also scattered across the US border with Mexico, detecting migrants as they climb over the wall or cross the river and walk into the Land of the Free.

Very accurate and scary Monbiot (if you haven't considered it before ) --

The question no one dares ask: what if Britain has to defend itself from the US?

Trump's face !

It'll certainly be interesting to see if Starmer proudly reminds the world that UK and NOT Canada is the 51st State ... or ... he manages something like this --

A nice change from those London lawyers using rotten libel laws to work for Russian oligarchs attacking journalists investigating them !

A lacklustre panel and a pub invite means I'll be shirking my QT duties this evening.

Might give it a quick shufty if I get back early enough.

I see Starmer has invited the tangerine twat over for a state visit. FFS.

Ah well, we (a Labour government as well) gave Ceausescu one in the 1970s so there is a sort of precedent. There is also the chance it could be rescinded if he does something especially egregious, perhaps it is a (very small) carrot in that respect.

Interesting...I'll be fascinated to see how the usual suspects spin this as 'Starmer was really bad'...and the State visit was always on the cards. Trump is one of those who loves flattery and the idea of a visit to see a real live King is right up his alley.

Talking of Ceaucescu , was just about to post this --

What is happening in Romania recalls the activities of Girkin alias Strelkov, " " a Russian army veteran and former Federal Security Service (FSB) officer who played a key role in the Russian annexation of Crimea, and then in the Donbas War as an organizer of militant groups in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). RE Roger

Faisal Islam @faisalislam
PM & President Macron double act this week appears to have shifted the dial on Ukraine towards Trump now defending the idea of it regaining as much territory as possible…
Also seemed to row back on calling Zelensky a dictator.
That seems like relative success.
Good to see Starmer doing some 'correcting' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, it was dead dull.

Just Farage boasting about his membership going up. Really, that was it.

Just saying "Britain is broken" but not saying what you'll change doesn't really cut it.

Reminds me a little of la Birbalsingh who says the education system is broken but hasn't ever said why or what needs to be done.

I see that Putin's man in Romania was another doing the absolutely not in any way Nazi salute this morning.

Unfortunately, the government there isn't much better.

Sad to see Dawkins involved (I actually went to his house once but he wasn't in) and half the names I recognise aren't scientists.

In response perhaps Niall Ferguson would like PE teachers to review the merits of his historical acumen.

Got halfway through QT...going to the pub was the right call.

Despite the fucking freezing walk home trying to avoid the police tape blowing around Lidl after some poor sod hung himself from a tree on a scrap of wasteland behind the shop.

On his headstone it will say 'his death became a minor inconvenience for passers by'.

Shit.

I'm well aware. It is mildly infuriating that a geneticists married to a Doctor Who assistant can be so obtuse but you must understand that anything other than the mutation of genes through heterosexual procreation calls into question his entire selfish gene hypothesis.

So he was never going to be happy when evidence of sexuality being a spectrum turned up in humans and dogs and frogs and every creature his beloved evolution had caused to exist on this Earth.

Darwin would have laughed at him for simplifying natural selection to such a diminished state.
