Good morfternoon.
https://www.theguardian.com/society/201 ... he-uk-ifanReport reveals scale of food bank use in the UK
The research complements established information on UK food bank use compiled by the Trussell Trust, Britain’s biggest food bank network, which collects extensive data from its members and recently reported that it gave out a record 1.2m food parcels to families and individuals in need in 2016-17, the ninth successive year in which demand had risen. First Cameron kicked the can down the road and now May. It's difficult to understand what voters see to admire in such dereliction of basic governmental duty as ensuring there is a system in place to fund social care. The Dilnot review provided the perfect opportunity for a cross-party solution to be thrashed out, but it seems the Tories prefer to fiddle with equity release opportunities for the financial services.Theresa May’s dementia tax U-turn will deepen the crisis facing poorer people “without assets” who desperately need social care, a health think-tank has warned.
Cash-starved local councils – already facing a £2.1bn black hole – will be hit with higher costs to pay for the shake-up but may now end up with no extra funding at all, it has forecast.

May nervous when being questioned by a member of the audience who works in the NHS, even more nervous when said member of the audience was not in the least bit impressed with her answer.

Pavlovian applause for "will of the people" (twice).
And "no deal better than bad deal".

Those seem to be about the only things she did get any support on, tbh.
Generally it was a car crash. Corbyn was much superior with both Paxman and the audience.

But assumption is young won't vote any more than in the past.Labour’s lead among voters under 50 is growing, marking an increasing generational divide ahead of June's election, according to a poll by YouGov.

One midwife from Devon protested at the “chronic underfunding” and told her: “I see a lot of efficiency savings that are actually cuts. I see hospitals closing.

Oh I agree. And my fairly apolitical family were impressed by JC.AnatolyKasparov wrote:Those seem to be about the only things she did get any support on, tbh.

I was just sighing at the fact that 5 minutes of imitation UKIP at the end was enough to generate that kind of response. She saw her chance and took it. There is very little I can say about the actual applauders that would be remotely polite, tbh. I recommend John Niven (Nivenj1) on Twitter instead.
Re: Bank Holiday Weekend, 27th, 28th & 29th May 2017
That's the question isn't it. If they come out and vote... However, they all know that they got shafted over the Brexit vote, and there has been a campaign among those groups that imo is far better than Milliband managed.tinyclanger2 wrote:But assumption is young won't vote any more than in the past.Labour’s lead among voters under 50 is growing, marking an increasing generational divide ahead of June's election, according to a poll by YouGov.

I think it will be a higher turnout among the young than usual, but whether it will be enough? However, I think the chance of a hung parliament is higher, and I think Labour have gone from no hope of a victory, to a chance.
The leaders debate, if she really doesnt turn up, could destroy the Tory campaign, and remember Labouur can lose the popular vote and still win. She isn't getting the landslide, that is for certain - at the moment.

Theresa May was described as a "blowhard who collapses at the first sign of gunfire," by Jeremy Paxman during the leadership debate.
