Hang on, I thought one of the problems with the NHS, is that there aren't enough staff. How is this possibly going to help?
(I know that idea is, that it isn't. It's a way to let Wes's private heath donors get their foot in the door)

They're literally just Tories. This is Tory policy.

will push back at all on this.“There is no version of my life that does not largely revolve around me being a human rights lawyer."

Just a reminder that this is our ambassador to the USA. Appointed by noted human rights lawyer, Kier Starmer.
I suppose it does mean he has something in common with Trump.

That's certainly how it looks to me.
@refit, Allow the rugby to distract you from all the rest and enjoy your day.
Rugby's not my thing but I've enjoyed afternoons watching Cheltenham this week.

Well, this is terrifying. Praise from Tories for "doing what they couldn't" and No 10 insiders confirming it's an ideological, to harm as many vulnerable people as possible.

Amazing stuff . PFI 2.0 coming very soon . No point in openly privatising if you can extract the income stream by indebtedness ?

Same here. Expecting wins from Ireland and England then comes the conundrum for a Scotland supporter. France are a joy to watch and I would say clearly the best team in the tournament so while a win for Scotland would be nice I wouldn't be overly upset if they lose (with dignity) and France get what they deserve.refitman wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 7:51 am Super Saturday for the 6 Nations, that's me in front of the TV all day

Remember what I said about Streeting the other day.
Unless the party completely abolishes internal democracy, there is no way he gets to be the next Labour leader against any remotely credible opponent.
Stuff like this only makes that more certain still.

Describing current Labour as 'centre-left', with a straight face, is utterly laughable. That and the fact that McSweeney is taken in by the jangly-keys that is 'AI', means he should be no-where near Labour and the levers of power.

You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink.refitman wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 3:11 pm AK, at some point, you will have to realise that current Labour policies are harming people at this very moment.
It was like this when Nick Clegg foisted himself on the Lib-Dems. At the time those of us on the left of the party warned that moving to the right would be an absolute disaster but we were ignored and told to fuck off by true believers with their heads stuck firmly in the sand (and up their own arses). They still believed right up until reality punched them squarely in the face.
Starmer's acolytes are giving off exactly the same vibe.

You all need to stop doom scrolling and just look at what the government actually *does*.
