Good to see that the 'protecting women' thing is going well. I'm sure all the women will be thankful when they lose rights

A potential falling out between Trump & Musk might well give Farage a problem - which side will he back?

Take a massive donation from Musk (if allowed) and he might find the doors to Mar a Lago firmly shut.

Trump & Musk falling out is surely inevitable, only question is the timescale. I'd bet sooner rather than later.

Problems for Farage are a bonus.

Didn't realise i was in for a SKY Long Read, but found I couldn't stop !
"The Labour government had built a busy road at the bottom of Humphrey Smith’s garden on the advice of a planning expert, and there was nothing he could do about it. His childhood home was invaded by planners who claimed to be bringing progress. Ever since, Smith has militantly resisted both planners and progress. He has built an alternative world, one whose every aspect he tries to control. And if the little king cannot do as he pleases, everyone else can go hang."
Humphrey’s world: how the Samuel Smith beer baron built Britain’s strangest pub chain

Since the 1970s, Humphrey Smith has acquired scores of pubs and historic properties around the UK. But time after time, he has left the buildings empty. Why has he allowed his empire to moulder?

SKY " I was offered emergency treatment if I paid up front and thought about it until a lovely receptionist lass told me to try smearing sensitive toothpaste on my afflicted molar for a few minutes which worked almost immediately. The tooth's obviously fucked but at least I might get through Christmas relatively pain free. Bless her."

Public service request -- which particular brand ?

googled 'mandelson epstein and deripaska' -- they all turned up -- :-)

" However, for Mandelson to make progress, Trump would have to forgive him for condemning the past and future president’s America First approach to trade in a 2018 article.

In the piece, the peer said it was “necessary to recognise Mr. Trump’s behavior for what it is: he is a bully and a mercantilist who thinks the U.S. will gain in trade only when others are losing.”

Well he's had no probs with more detailed insults / accurate descriptions !

https://www.politico.eu/article/peter-m ... mbassador/

Then tried 'Mandelson Ukraine '--

"rob_e_lea 10/11/2024
So Lord Mandelson says Ukraine should give up some border territory and not join Nato 😮😡, “I hold in my hand - a piece of paper” comes to mind

Not good for Ukraine ... ?

The sort of alarmism in this tweet doesn't help.

There is actually little reason to think Musk was decisive in swinging it for Trump, even if making Twitter into the sewer it now is undoubtedly didn't hurt. The overwhelming and long term evidence is that most Germans who don't vote for the AfD (very much including the CDU) despise them, and that helps create a hard ceiling on their support - and much the same is likely to be true of all the "Farage becoming PM is inevitable" takes here.

This is not an argument for complacency in either case, but running around like headless chickens isn't the way to do it either.

New peers announced just now includes Sue Gray from Labour and Toby Young (gasp) from the Tories. Even with the 30 Labour peers they are still well short of the opposition.

Ugh, horrible news from Germany at any time - but especially now. And of course the usual suspects will try to make hay from it.
