There is an interesting argument - well quite interesting if you are interested in this sort of thing (looks around... nods) that if you're elected on a party list vote and you leave the party, shouldn't your place be taken by the next person on your party list, rather than you staying as an independent or joining a different group?

There is an argument for that, the main objection being it potentially hands too much power to party machines.adam wrote:There is an interesting argument - well quite interesting if you are interested in this sort of thing (looks around... nods) that if you're elected on a party list vote and you leave the party, shouldn't your place be taken by the next person on your party list, rather than you staying as an independent or joining a different group?
Though surely UKIP would even then be running low on replacements by now?

Probably not even worth bothering calling up replacements given (i) they do sod all now and (ii) they'll all be out by next March, no?
Still the attendance allowance will come in handy if they bother to go...

I'm beginning to wonder if "no deal" wouldn't be the best option. It would likely soon bring people to their senses. Of course, we'll never have as good a deal with the EU as we have now, but heigh-ho.

Hard to see most Tory MPs wearing that.
Then again when their ranks contain such geniuses as Priti "lets starve the Irish again, it was so good last time" Patel, what do we expect really.

The European Movement is an EU-funded organisation tasked with conducting "propaganda and other activities" in the cause of establishing a federal Europe – absolutely laughable that any journalist could turn to them as an impartial source.
