Tories have 'deep-rooted problem' with Islamophobia, former party chair Sayeeda Warsi says (Politics Live, Guardian)
Re: Tuesday 5th March 2019
Dossier of complaints sent by the Jewish Labour Movement to the EHRC (BBC News).
Edited to add -
But they are also giving a lot of coverage to Sayeeda Warsi, and Islamaphobia in the Conservative Party.

After the event, nice try on the historical revisionism front but there's this 'er thing called "edited' five minutes after the page turned.
Re: Tuesday 5th March 2019
One of the anomalies of the English language is that two things can both be simultaneously "correct" for no apparent reason! Which can be very frustrating if you want to use the "right" one. Dispatch/despatch for instance. Both are correct spellings for the same meaning - so which do I use? Decisions, decisions....AnatolyKasparov wrote:If you are going to do grammar pedantry, make sure you are on solid ground yourselves first - otherwise you look not just smug but a smug prat.
(thinking of nobody in particular from this morning, no sirree)
( "Is/are" for a collective noun, I believe you were referring to, this morning? You can use either, but pedants will insist you have a good reason for treating a collective noun as a plural. I think Corbyn could well be meaning every single member of a generation are paying the price, in which case he's correct, but I can't say for certain )

UK property values
The party deciding everyone has a safe, securely tenured and affordable place to live is going to have trouble getting returned to government even if there's a coherent plan ensuring compensation for those using buy-to-let property as their pension.

Good-evening, everyone

I'll read the rest of the thread now
Re: Tuesday 5th March 2019
I'll vote for the party making sure everyone in UK has a decent, securely tenured and affordable place to live
I think a lot of people would do the same
I think some people are afraid of the consequences and implications of that policy, real or imagined

Re: Tuesday 5th March 2019
I'm completely bewildered by the over-the-top, negative news I've read recently about the Labour party
Re: Tuesday 5th March 2019
Unbelievably bad commentary from Rawnsley, in my opinionLabour’s balance of terror has shifted. Now Corbynites have cause to be fearful
Andrew Rawnsley
an example of why I've backed away from the news for awhile

Yes - I read the headline\strapline at the week-end, but went no further. A tad over the top!citizenJA wrote:Unbelievably bad commentary from Rawnsley, in my opinionLabour’s balance of terror has shifted. Now Corbynites have cause to be fearful

Re: Tuesday 5th March 2019
I heard Warsi on the news programme at lunchtime. Whoever it was interviewing asked her "So is this as big a problem as Labour's with anti-Semitism?"PorFavor wrote:Worth reading. Conservatives and Islamaphobia -

To her credit Warsi declined to give give an opinion with something like "I don't think we should be looking at it like that"
If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.
