Re: Tuesday 26th March 2019
From yesterday
It's worth looking at some of the industry sector representative organisations as they talk about these plans - the Road Haulage Association's statement on the EU's no deal plans are here, for example; cabotage (foreign vehicles moving goods between two destinations in another country) is excluded, as is moving goods between two EU countries, as is moving goods from an EU country to a non-EU country - all part of common practice now.
I think we will start to hear more of the leave campaign saying 'see - they say they won't make side deals or allow cherry picking but they're doing it all of the time'. What's going on, and what's been going on in public for quite a while now, is that they are making arrangements to protect their interests, without reference to us save to say 'this will be available if you reciprocate. No negotiation. Arrangements that they can bring to an end or amend without reference to us, because they are their arrangements.PorFavor wrote:There was a brief item on the news. It was about the EU's "No Deal" plans (they've produced a hefty document, which I've dubbed the "No Deal Handbook") and allied stuff

Steve Brine is from leave-supporting and fairly recently LibDem voting Winchester - he may be looking over his shoulder as he votes on these things.

JRM.
I suspect 'having work to do afterwards' is code for a new PM ripping up the WA.
The second sentence was always obvious to most of us.“leaving the European Union, even leaving it inadequately and having work to do afterwards is better than not leaving at all”.
Brexit may now need to be viewed as “a process rather than an event”, he said. It was, he said, a “process of unravelling and diverging which will take time”.

Nardelli makes an excellent point.
Then when you've done that, you can add up all the votes for options that are going to need an extension of A50 and if it's a majority, start preparing for those EP elections.
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Given 1) time available 2) specific purpose of the exercise & EU position 3) core of the problem (red lines: tradeoffs vs cherry picking), MPs should consider holding indicative votes on existing models in Barnier’s staircase instead of trying to create something new & unworkable

Vast majority of remainers and leavers now think government has handled Brexit badly, research suggests
In a commentary on the What UK Thinks website, the polling expert John Curtice says people have got more negative about the process the longer it has gone on.
According to Sky’s Faisal Islam, Curtice has also said that public opinion has shifted to such an extent that it is now longer obvious that leaving represents the majority view of the public. (Politics Live, Gnudian)

This conversation is fascinating. They’re now taking about forming a street moment called the “Blue Shirts” to riot until Brexit is delivered. This is less menacing than it might seem given those speaking are all over 70 and wearing either blazers or fleeces.

The idea that better half,or indeed vast majority of w/c users are sedentary is very amusing but how to carelessly amplify connotation and of course the look how much you are costing us.

As I suspected cJA provides the missing link.
Re: Tuesday 26th March 2019
I've not read the study, only the article. The direct quotes from the study in the article continually reference monetary costs and behaviour - sedentary behaviour. It's disturbing and then there's this from the article:citizenJA wrote:https://www.theguardian.com/society/201 ... 00m-a-year" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;PorFavor wrote:The link doesn't work.HindleA wrote:https://www.theguardian.com/society/201 ... 700m-a-yea

Calculations made from data sources from outside Europe then extrapolating how much it costs the NHS is sloppy work but I'll need to read the report for confirmation. The study does not prove cause and effect – and sicker people might be more sedentary. What’s more, not all of the data used in the lung cancer calculations was from European populations, and estimates of the risks from sedentary behaviour were gleaned from different studies with different methods.
