Morning all.
I was in the library yesterday all day - over 100 plans catalogued! - and sat there open-mouthed at Trump's latest.
And to think that there are relatively otherwise sensible people who think that we'll get an excellent trade deal with the US without having to give anything in return...

Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time....

Apparently this is what the Greenland thing is about.

At this time, Denmark is standing up alone against Russia over Nord Stream 2, which the US has failed to sanction. Trump should have gone to Denmark to grant US support. Instead he demands Danish territory & recommends that Russia is readmitted to the G-7. Trump = Putin's puppet.

The World would be a far better place if the likes of IDS stopped negatively contributing.

Funny you should mention him. I just asked myself the question if I was on a desert-ish island with just one pub and it was a Wetherspoon would I go for a beer?RogerOThornhill wrote:I know this is widely known but Tim Martin really is a special kind of dimwit.

Good morfternoon.
Nothing has changed then. EU politicians are merely noting the passage of time - albeit in diplomatic language.

If the 75 retirement age was to be applied retrospectively, I wonder how many Tory voters would support it.......

Good afternoon, everyone.
Re: Thursday 22nd August 2019
Those currently of working age already need more years of NI contributions to qualify for a basic state pension than current pensioners. The concern about the auto-enrolment into private pensions has always been that it may be used as a figleaf in the future for the gradual erosion of state pension provision, making the retirement years of future generations even more precarious.
Although I think endless petitions can become overused and lose their impact, I did think this one was worth signing as I want the assholes who came up with this to know that even suggesting such a policy is completely and utterly unacceptable, let alone implementing it.

I saw this pile of nonsense on that Twitter.
Free schools: taking the state out of the school

I wonder if she realises where her school's money comes from exactly?
And who could shut them down if they wanted as has happened elsewhere?

Funded yes, controlled no. Not since the late 1980s.A typical state school is controlled by and funded through local authorities,
Oh right. So who could - at a stroke - give the same freedom to every school I wonder? Most importantly free schools set their own curriculum and school hours, giving teachers more freedom, breaking with the state school status quo and introducing much needed competition into education.

Did anyone else here see the photo' of Boris Johnson with his foot up on the table whilst he was meeting Emmanuel Macron? I hope no wine was spilled on the sofa.
