Morning all.
Back from Sainsbury's - no queue to get in!
M&S - no queue again.
T/tolls on the shelves and some pasta although not a single sign of milk which is odd. Fortunately our newsagent always has some. Things getting back to normal.
So...end of the leadership contest in 20 minutes.

Morning All
While waiting for the big announcement, just to reply to Sky’s query last night. I happened to read an article the other day which covered the same ground from a different perspective. The basic proposition, which makes sense to me, is that nudity has increasingly been commodified as sex in our society and therefore needs at other times to be hidden away. You only need to go to somewhere like Sweden to find a different view. Although they are much more comfortable with nudity, I’ve yet to witness an orgy there!

It's hard to get the tone right on this, but let's remind ourselves of why #Corbyn is having to go: he was a complete disgrace from start to finish. /THREAD

That's fairly comprehensive.
Explain to me again why it had to take 4 months?

Hear, hear. She got my vote. But I'm content with the result. I like Angela Rayner.

Re: Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th April 2020
In many ways the women fighting the Labour deputy leader contest were more interesting and stronger contenders than the women fighting for the leadership (not to mention the men they were competing against) which is a bit of a shame, but going forwards suggests we'll have a female Labour leader yet and hopefully fully on merit and not as a token gesture, seeing how that went for the Libdems with Swinson.
As for Keir Starmer, despite decisively winning a popular vote among members, he's got quite a challenge on his hands to establish himself as a leader in his own right, rather than just as the anti-Corbyn. I can't even pretend to guess how this is going to go.

All excellent ideas. We need competence and intelligence on the front benches, and Burgon has neither.Jimmy

Rosena Allin-Khan would make an excellent Shadow Health Secretary.
Lisa Nandy would be an excellent Shadow Communities Secretary.
Hilary Benn would make an excellent Shadow Foreign Secretary.
Richard Burgon would be excellent sitting on the back benches, playing with his Lego.

Afternoon everyone. Labour Party Leadership contest. Quelle surprise.
Anway here's Richard Thompson and backing singer (same household I should think) in lock down, playing into his phone. Sound quality a bit lacking but still.

Anyway, my thought at the time when RLB gave Corbyn 10 out of 10 was "she's just lost this election". Nice to think i am right at least sometimes

Telling people everything in the past five years was bad really isn't a good look, hopefully the new leader will have more sense.

Starmer was clearly prepared in advance for his victory. Besides the article in the Sunday Time he's already written to the Board of Deputies.

It’s amazing how quickly labour goes from being institutionally racist to a sensible party of opposition with the exact same members now that the media have decided they think the leader’s alright.
