“That will be the west coast mainline then. Can’t go wrong. How about Glass Futures in St Helens? There’s bound to be an hour’s taxi ride involved once the train is stuck at Crewe.”

One of them is scrapping the two-child benefit cap. Would Starmer do the same? He very deliberately wouldn’t say, and he was given many, many chances to do so.
This was, in short, the kind of panicked speech a prime minister tends to give a week before a general election, when he’s haemorrhaging votes.
We know that because we can all remember it. Rishi Sunak kept saying, “Labour will raise your taxes,” over and over and over again but no one cared and no one listened and, not for the first time, he’s been proved exactly right.
There’s still four years to go. PPE will need to be issued. The steel toe caps are already on. "
