09.15 BST Israeli defence minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday he has ordered the country’s military to respond forcefully to what he said was Iran’s violation of a ceasefire with Israel, Reuters reports.
The directive followed an announcement by the military that it had detected missile launches from Iran towards Israel.

Why defeat on unpopular welfare reforms could prove to be the end of Starmer

It normally takes much more than just a year in power for a prime minister to face a full rebellion involving more than 100 MPs.
While Sir Keir Starmer has had a very bumpy time at the start of his premiership, despite winning a massive majority, this is the first time he has been staring down the barrel of a defeat in a crucial vote in the Commons.
But if all 108 Labour MPs - including 12 chairs of select committees - stick to their guns next week and vote for the reasoned amendment, then the government will lose the second reading vote on its welfare reform bill.
It is worth noting that the 108 figure does not include any ministers who may still resign over the issue and vote against the government.
Defeat on such an important policy would potentially be a confidence issue for a government that could bring it down, and there are several factors at play here.
As one senior backbencher put it: “The sharks are circling”.
There are those who want the government to turn in a much more leftward direction, and instead of cuts, go for welfare taxes.
There are others who have leadership ambitions.
There are yet more who want Starmer out.
And there are many who simply do not think being a Labour MP involves signing up for slashing benefits to the vulnerable and disabled.
Whichever way it is, if this goes spectacularly wrong, it may be difficult for the prime minister to survive, and even if he does, he will be significantly weakened.

Re: Tuesday 24th June 2025
Just a week ago Starmer and his lackeys confidently assured us that there were only 30-50 malcontents. Never mind the country, they're clearly incapable of reading the mood of their own party.

More than 100 Labour MPs have signed an amendment to the Universal Credit and Personal Independents Bill which would effectively kill off the government’s plans to cut £5 billion from the welfare budget.
If it is chosen by the Speaker, and if the opposition parties decide to support it, the government would be a defeated in next week’s crunch Commons vote. For a PM with a majority of around 165, this would be a massive humiliation.
But there is little sympathy in the Labour Party for Starmer and chancellor Rachel Reeves’ predicament.
MPs remain furious over Reeves’ decision to remove winter fuel payments from 10 million pensioners, a move driven by her desire to save money but which proved a disaster on the doorsteps.
Many backbenchers feel they have been taken for granted and treated as lobby fodder by Downing Street during the government’s first year in office. That groundswell of anger has, in large part, led to the welfare rebellion.
One Labour insider said: “The whole thing is a massive fuck you to Keir and Rachel.”

Luke Akehurst, North Durham MP, said: “Whatever people’s views are on the merits of welfare reform I’m astonished colleagues would sign a ‘reasoned amendment’ that would destroy a piece of government legislation.
“That isn’t how we should resolve policy concerns and risks us facing a political crisis. I would urge people to remove their signatures in the interests of party unity.”

And there we have it, Starmer and the geniuses around him have somehow got themselves into a position where they're being dictated to by this idiot.
