Morning
I saw this from Sky on my first awakening at 5, and it was a very good question ---

"" Freedom of ......... CUT !
Jesus wept. Any idea where this happened? ""

I looked and it was brilliant --

Up early, I profited by switching off the inertial radiator thing And looked in the stove to see some embers ... so added a couple of branches and went back to bed .

Kitchen temperature still good when I finally got up and roared the fire . Going to be a lovely day but nice to start with a warm kitchen . Now off for my bloods, a long shopping list, and the pool.

A very slightly less pessimistic Crace --
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... r-survival

as Starmer has at last decided to oppose the FaragePartei ..

" Over in the main hall, the conference got under way with its traditional lacklustre speeches. The general secretary, Hollie Ridley, asked for a minute’s silence to remember “the deep-rooted decency of political donors”. (((WTF ? """))) Niche to say the least. Steve Reed found himself with the biggest cheer of the day, but only because he mentioned his predecessor as housing secretary, Angela Rayner. Safe to say, she won’t be getting a speaking slot this time round."

As we were out on Saturday, I've just managed to watch the recording of England Women's rugby victory over Canada. Excellent fillip for those of us who needed it! Ellie Kildunne is without doubt the rugby star of the moment.
I have a (Welsh) friend, a regular rugby player in his youth at a good level. who won't watch the women's game, because "it's not good enough and any men's team would beat them". For me, it obviously helps because it's England dominating, but the quality of play improves year on year, without any doubt.
PS I know only @refit will empathise with this, @sky will perhaps begrudgingly put aside his ABE persona to acknowledge that they were pretty good, even if only in winning it!

It's amazing that their only ideas are attacking the left and appeasing the right.

Looked to me that the complaint was that the "shocking amount" wasn't enough. Probably right,
