SJ --
The new realism dictates that in situations like these we do not stand on ceremony and spout abstract nouns. We deal with the world as it is, not as we wish it to be.

Trump now has to fashion a guarantee of security along Ukraine’s current frontline with Russia that can satisfy both Putin and Zelenskyy. He has to do the same in Gaza to satisfy Israel and Palestine. Since he refuses to commit American troops to either venture, his powers of persuasion will have to be superhuman if his reputation is to be secured.
I wondered what the usefulness of "abstract" was in this context ----

"A concrete noun refers to a physical object in the real world, such as a dog, a ball, or an ice cream cone. An abstract noun refers to an idea or concept that does not exist in the real world and cannot be touched, like freedom, sadness, or permission."

Now wondering what a 'concrete guarantee of security' looks like in our uncertain world ... :?: :?: :?:

Years ago I was reading about FDR, one anecdote by one of his speechwriters Robert Sherwood stuck -- he'd have a selection of papers delivered to read in bed in the morning and was asked about a hostile one in particular -- reply approx

"" it's important to know what they're up to" , something like that .

Scrabbling in the foothills we have people like this --

So many seem to exist in a news-free bubble, as tho all the media is filtered for them and they just cannot look at it for themselves ?

For distraction you always have Royalty and the International 'Great and the Good" who are still remarkably untouched

You'd imagine all those Americans who keep banging on about "traditional values" would be absolutely losing their shit over this?
