Once again, fuck Wes Streeting. Actively removing healthcare for trans people and then trying to gaslight them, that he's actually on their side.

And they still don't understand why people are abandoning Labour.

One of the crew was rescued. What is interesting is where the plane came from and what defensive operation it was on ?

"" Aviation experts said the wreckage pictured was in fact from a F-15E from the US air force’s 494th squadron, based at RAF Lakenheath in the UK, though it could not at first be confirmed when and where the pictures were taken.

US officials familiar with the situation later confirmed off the record that an F-15E had been brought down and the Pentagon was scrambling to find the crew. But there was no official comment from the US military about the incident. "" liveblog

I mean, you can see it as a progression from your planes being shot down by your allies at least.

LOL . The story on those three shot-down planes, according to the Ukrainians in the Gulf -- they themselves stick with their above-ground radars etc even if there is a risk the missiles are aimed at them !

The Kuweitis took shelter and left the systems on auto ...

Like all the best things in life marmalade is actually Scottish. Well apart from the fact that the Scots ripped it off from the French who ripped it off from the Portuguese.

With my upcoming move I've been going through my food cupboards trying to decide what to take with me and what to chuck out and have rediscovered some wonders. One of which is a jar of home made marmalade I was given probably about 6 years ago. Never opened, just stashed and forgotten about. It looked fine and after its long overdue unsealing and a tentative sniff I tried some on toast and holy shit it's good. I shall however be jettisoning two jars of 'boxing day chutney' which came in Christmas hampers from my brother's wife. Why would I ever want a cheese and pickle sandwich to taste of cinnamon and cloves? Bleh. Same with the bottle of truffle oil I tried once, said never again, then kept for no apparent reason. Why? In an emergency did I imagine I could survive on weird chutney, horrible truffle oil, and rusty tins of peas and sweetcorn? What was I thinking? The upshot of it all is about half of what's in my voluminous Edwardian pantry cupboards is going to end up in the bin. I mean a couple of years ago I discovered a bag of potatoes that had somehow got shunted into a dark recess and they'd sprouted. In the dark, completely alone and forgotten. I'm still not sure how that was possible but they tasted ok, the baby ones, I obviously had to try them.

So yeah Priti can shove her contrived outrage over our 'British marmalade' up her ever expanding derriere.

So now it's April and Labour have cut sickness and disability benefits for new claimants by £50 a week. The rebellion may have halted the cuts to PIP, but the cuts to Universal Credit have gone ahead as planned. Imagine that, being on the edge of surviving with complex needs and then suddenly some uncaring dickheads come along and really fuck you over. For what? According to their own forecasts it won't save any significant money until the 2030's. £50 for me is food and wine for a week, imagine what it is for those whose life is an order of magnitude more difficult. It just boggles the mind that a Labour government has done this. And they wonder why we're all voting elsewhere.

So that's why the Tories have taken an interest in local infrastructure, for the first time in forever (and why Kemi was laying tarmac in high heels).

I knew that. Many, many years ago when my sister was at uni she brought a Portuguese student home with her for a few days who told us all about it.

Good to hear you've found a new place sky, the garden for a rooftop view seems a reasonable trade.

Meanwhile back on that planet ,

I checked the date on the Mail's marmalade article, and it was NOT April the first :-)

Bollocks. I forgot to dye any eggs for Easter then destroy them by chucking them down a hill before eating the remains. I'm deep in the shit now, the Celtic folk horror Easter Bunny is going to fuck me up.

Anyway I've moved from food to books now. What do I keep, what goes to charity shops? So far I'm keeping almost all of them, apart from the Chomsky, for obvious recently revealed reasons. If I need a good left wing kick up the arse I've got Varoufakis. My Sci-fi collection could do with a bit of pruning because most of it's shit despite including multiple award winning novels. That's the problem with being a Sci-fi fan with a modicum of literary taste, almost all of it is really badly written, I read H.G Wells when I was a kid and despite accidentally spawning the genre few have written it better than him since. Take the 'Island of Dr Moreau', on the surface a story about a crazed vivisectionist trying to literally anthropomorphise animals through gruesome surgery. Until you read it again as an adult and realise he's not so subtly talking about how the British Empire was treating its 'natives'. There have always been a few good writers in the sci-fi field, J.G Ballard, Gene Wolfe, Ursula K. Le Guin, but they've always been an exception, mostly it's garbage. Asimov, Arthur C Clarke, none of these guys could write for shit. But I'll be keeping them anyway. For old times sake.
