Afternoon !
Cockburn --
" But the biggest political failure by Starmer in combating Reform over the last two years has been to avoid pillorying it as the UK proxy of President Donald Trump. The accusation is perfectly fair as the British right – both Reform and the Conservatives – have surprisingly few ideas about the future of the UK that did not originate with the American extreme right. For parties that beat the jingo drum so vigorously, this retread of Trumpian policies and prejudices should make them an easy target, especially after the debacle of Trump’s war on Iran. Yet this has been a card that Starmer has never played effectively, even while timidly distancing Britain from the Iran war. "

The Guardian gives no details of the attack, the condition of the victim even !
Neo-Nazi obsessed teen jailed for trying to kill Kurdish man in Bristol with axe

"" CCTV from inside the shop showed the 27-year-old turning and ducking at the last minute as she swung an axe at his neck.
Mr Mahmoodi, who was much bigger than the 5ft 2in Burns, managed to wrestle the axe away from her before she could strike him again.
A nearby police officer heard the commotion and went to the scene in East Street and arrested Burns. They found a scalpel and several darts on her.
Burns nodded when the arresting officer asked her if she had swung the axe at the man. When he asked her why, she replied: "I wanted to cut his neck. I would do it again, but to succeed." ""
Now imagine if Mr Mahmoudi had been Jewish ?

Great news on the Demo Numbers !!!
It's not so long since Starmer was trumpeting BILLIONS of US investment in the UK !
Being such a simple chap all you had to do was to show him Dollar-signs .
Reading the small print, it involved buying $ BILLIONS of super chips in Taiwan or wherever, and shipping them over to waiting ( 'perhaps!) warehouses in the UK, where the investors would demand a free ride on electricity, water exhaustion .

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... rimination"" Last year, for example, residents in Fayetteville, Georgia, noticed low water pressure; eventually they discovered a nearby datacenter had taken 30m gallons of water, initially without paying for it. It is no surprise that a new Gallup poll has found seven in 10 Americans oppose constructing AI datacenters in their local area. Indeed, most Americans would rather live by a nuclear power plant than a datacenter. ""

The Times' morning mail --
Has anyone seen the different candidates' headline policies on Gaza Israel the Trump/Bibi Iran War?
One final thought. Burnham has clearly wiggled on Europe. But he is, I’m told, resolutely committed to proportional representation. This is likely to play a significant role in what the Greens do next, as splits emerged in the party regarding whether to fight tooth-and-nail in Makerfield or to give Burnham his strongest possible run. There were already Labour voices whispering the words electoral reform before the disastrous local election results for the party. Now? Its proponents have a man determined to champion a “progressive alliance” and see it through.

Maybe.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... rch-londonThe Met said the pro-Palestinian march, which included anti-racist counterprotesters to the Robinson-led march, numbered 15,000 to 20,000. March organisers claim 250,000 attended.
Seems to be certain that Tommeh's mob were considerably fewer than the previous one last year though.

My brother teaches literally within a couple of miles of where Burnham is hoping to win the by-election and he reckons Burnham stands no chance.
He likes Burnham, appreciates his appeal as a voice from the North West who many will regard as one of their own, but not in that seat. Apparently it's festooned with flags and according to him populated entirely by misshapen, malodorous lumps masquerading as human beings.
I'm just passing on what he told me. With a bare minimum of artistic license.
