Good morning.

Same in North Northumberland for pretty much any specialist, a 60 mile trip to Newcastle, which to be fair is less of a journey than for you.
It's a bit less than 60 miles from the very north of North Yorkshire where we were, and better roads except for the few miles near home.
There are many specialisms in Teesside though so it's relatively unusual, not commonplace as it will be in Berwick.

That appears to be what you all take for granted !

Here inabilty to drive the distance, and no family available means you automatically get a Taxi.

Convenient too that ambulances and taxis park for short stays under the hospital

I genuinely don't know whether there's patient transport for this situation, there certainly is for the local area but it involves a certain amount of hanging about for the minibus so preferable to drive if you can.

A friend had to get a taxi to A&E recently for some urgent medication, she does drive but the condition affects her sight so she was told not to. I'm now wondering if she got a refund of the taxi fare.
