This is gold. How did he not realise he was still going to be in trouble even if he won?

To be fair, he has gotten away with it for years and it's only know that the Press have decided to start noticing things.

The cartoons down that thread are excellent too .

I missed the morning cool as had a loong sleep , from my exertions yesterday , so now have to make up for that --

Thermometer says it's still only 26 in the shade, so am moving the parasol over the woodsplitter to do some short bursts of activity .
The direct sun just too much for me today !

Same late-surfacing again today, those spurts of exercise splitting barrowing and stacking firewood must be good for me :-)

How to make friends and influence people , and get customers --

And on the consequences of creating a friendly environment --

Sadly a paywall but I expect that news will be free elsewhere

Good morning !

Daughter confessed that she walked some of the half-marathon, being out if training, but she was only 'a bit stiff' yesterday !

A little more info --
The levels of self-harm, violence and drugs are so out of control that a new approach is needed. It is not simply to introduce “Scandi” wings. It is to do what we used to do before the pandemic was used as an excuse to shut everything down. To focus on purposeful activity with education and rehabilitation across the whole prison estate. To get prisoners out of their cells and into work. Because everyone knows that the best way to get prisoners off drugs and stop them hurting themselves and others is to give their lives a sense of purpose, hope and a future.

What I saw

While I was in HMP Wandsworth, the prisoner next door killed himself. I was woken in the middle of the night by officers doing their best to revive him before I saw the body being taken out. Following this experience, I trained to become a prison Listener, frequently being called up in the middle of the night to speak to a fellow prisoner who was troubled and at a low point in their life. Self-harm and suicide are very real and common occurrences in our prisons. Much more needs to be done to tackle these problems.
Charlie Elphicke was the Conservative MP for Dover from 2010 to 2019, and is a former HMP resident

Quote from Rory Stewart just before WATO 'news' , as the Afghan War and the Retreat from Kabul destroyed peoples' view of politicians --

" They have no idea what they're doing ! "
( Door opens for Rupert ? )

That is the lead item, playing now --

13.23 Rory Stewart -- first of all you had the GFC destroying faith in the system/politicians, then that disastrous war ...

There's a nice bit in this FT free read on one of the er stars of the GFC --

Last October JPMorgan Chase completed their new $3BN 60 storey HQ " some have said as a monument to Jamie Dimon ", and then ...

In the last few days and weeks he's repeatedly been threatening the UK government that he won't build his next £3BN skyscraper European HQ in London if they don't obey him on policy !
