'Sovereignty' is becoming more and more a priority for defence against the overmighty US..
We now really need alternatives to Mastercard/Visa as well as the internet usual suspects !

Monbiot on form --

the representation of the people bill will concentrate instead on introducing Keir Starmer’s risible proposals, which are intended to limit donations sent from abroad but not from within the UK: as if billionaire donors and their wealth managers have no expertise in transferring money from one account to another. The loopholes are designed in.

So that's it then, Starmer's going to scurry off after saying he wouldn't. I suppose he's nothing if not consistent in his inconsistency.

Off you fuck then mate, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if he and his coterie of goons had been even half as smart as they so evidently thought they were. Yes they got Starmer coronated leader, and won an election, but there are two fucking big asterisks besides both those achievements. First falsely smearing countless party members with accusations of anti-Semitism then getting a shell of a man to lie through his teeth to gain control of the party was abhorrent. Second winning an election with a diminished vote against a fractured right with the Tories in tatters should have rung alarm bells once the euphoria wore off. Neither warranted the smug, arrogant, entitled attitude which emanated from his cabal once in power. I'll never forget that one of the first things we heard about was Labour advisors demanding a pay rise so they got more than their Tory predecessors. They thought they were geniuses, it was the least they deserved. Until their inflated opinion of themselves and their abilities got punched in the face by reality.

You'll notice I'm not talking much about Starmer himself here, but what is there to say? He seemed perfectly happy to parrot the garbage these people fed him. Much of it mischaracterisation, half-truths, and flat out lies. Take the disability benefit cuts for example, all of the above were involved from start to finish, from dishonestly twisting statistics to blatantly lying to people who they'd overtly courted in opposition. I'm sure Trans people will say the same. Absolute callous betrayal. And yet we're still being told Starmer was a 'decent man'.

And then there's his despicable response to the genocide in Gaza. The most brutal slaughter any of us will ever have witnessed. At best we got indifference and hiding behind interpretation of the law, at worst the imprisonment of those protesting against it and proscribing them as terrorists. It can never be forgiven.

Like many I'm afraid to say I was initially taken in by what Starmer was selling, though I think it's fair to say that didn't last long. It is a shame we lost AK because I think we'd all love to know what he's made of proceedings. There were still plenty who were happy to defend Starmer below the line at the Guardian today, which baffles me. How can you admire or be loyal to a man who is essentially a void?

Anyway yeah, farewell to a charmless cunt who was far from decent in every respect of the word, happy to punch and kick down when told and try to flaunt it as a virtue.

Hopefully things have changed for the better. We shall see.
