I have found the setting that prevents new users from creating Topics, so that will help. They end up in a moderation queue and I can bulk remove them
. I also deleted ~400 spam users.

This clip starts with an all too short bit of Steve Bannon invective .
Right, he's a RW thug as we all know ... but there is a point made later in the segment that the other brand of RW Trumpists want to run down the education system because it's so easy to import talent from other countries who have educated it ! Educational colonialism-- plundering poorer nations resources

My record time for switching off WATO when the obligatory IDF spoxx came on was ONE minute. (That sounds highly unlikely , possibly it was the bbc itself doing the job in the headlines ! )
It looks like the BBC November revolt against the internal censorship by Israeli asset
BBC middle east editor Raffi Berg has had an effect because today Sara Montagu waited till 13.17h to announce that the israeli government had been invited to put up someone, but had declined .
The previous 16 minutes had been an accurate picture of what is happening in Gaza, with the very first item those three babies who had frozen to death in the night . Thousands of UN blankets have been blocked by Israel for months while families have been huddled in leaking makeshift tents , night time temp now at 5°.

I hope that everyone here has a pleasant end to 2024, and best wishes for the new year.

My pleasant end to 2024 was after months of waiting finally going for my first EPO shot early this morning !

A lot of outrage from the usual suspects about Sir Sadiq Khan in the honours list. Indeed, how could he hope to compete with such political titans as (to choose not totally from random, admittedly) Lord Shaun Bailey and Lord Zac Goldsmith?

Whoops ! My 'pleasant end to 2024 ' was suspended at 17.42 frogtimeFrog222 wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 3:54 pmyou too AK !AnatolyKasparov wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 3:14 pm I hope that everyone here has a pleasant end to 2024, and best wishes for the new year.

Instead of losing a gram of hemoglobin every five months, it became every three months and then every six weeks , it's now accelerated as measured this morning to a gram every twenty days !
I've heard one dreadful story of Nurse Practitioners doing GP's jobs in UK and refusing tests becos they cost a whole £25 ! My GP always agrees with me, seriously and clinically-based , so WE would have picked this up before the UNI specialist's original next rendezvous at the end of BLOODY JANUARY ...
The reason my meeting was advanced a month is Dynamic Daughter twisting arms on the phone . She asked this evening otherwise I'd have kept this to myself . Basically, me vital signs are OK, and I have not the slightest desire to catch flu/covid/RSV /whooping cough hanging around occupying valuable space in a hospital waiting for some 'specialist' to come in and sign off a pretty routine transfusion !

According to the comments on that, Noddy Holder's wife has appeared several times on GB News.
Entertainment people from the 1960s and 1970s were overwhelmingly right wing to an extent that would surprise many today - there were various reasons, but the fact the Wilson government was widely reviled in those circles for its attacks on pirate radio was a highly significant one.

Re: Tuesday 31st December 2024
Happy New Year everyone.
Absolutely chucking it down on my way home and I broke the zip on my Chinese raincoat so had to hold it closed.
I'd like to say I was optimistic for the year ahead but that would be an outright lie.
