Good morning.

Briefly checking in before I brave the flooded roads to try to get to the GP for 11.00, they rang me on Xmas eve with the appt so have to try. Re an xray for arthritis in my ankle, nothing life-threatening. Also have to get himself out of bed, breakfasted and settled on the sofa first.

Later.

I can't recall where I saw it but Badenoch was calling for a low-cost public inquiry without lawyers (which makes things a bit tricky) and to focus on a number of different institutions and their role in the grooming gang scandal - including academia which got a very big "Huh?" from me.

But it didn't cover children's homes - and I wondered whether they didn't want to look into them too closely given private equity's involvement and profiteering.

Also, why not look at parental responsibility? Outside of children's homes, parents should IMO know what their children are up to - where they are, and what they are doing when they are not at home or in school.

Unburdened by dogma, except when it's Wes's transphobia.

Well, she isn't a Labour MP anymore is she. Something that I suspect we are both happy about.

That sounds very busy ! :-)
From what I see on scans and Starmer announcements those currently have to be prescribed by a 'specialist' , but does that also apply to x-rays ?

All sounds odd to me as my doc prescribed a scan of my innards in November which I organised online for a few days later . That particular private clinic (25mins drive) is right now only available on the 13th, while the public hospital (40mins) is free at 3PM tomorrow and the alternative 40mins away private lab is 5.20 this afternoon !

It sure beats hanging around on the phone !

Streeting very forthright about the Muskrat on WATO .

"" Charlene, whose case I investigated from 2004, was not a victim of Pakistani 'grooming gangs' but rather dozens of men her father Robert brought home from the pub (white rapists), and subsequently several men, none of whom were Pakistani, who worked in the takeaways.

I do not point this out to in any way defend the numerous child rapists, pimps and sex buyers who ARE Pakistani Muslim, but rather because as a journalist I know you rely on and pride yourself on accuracy.

Then we get to my investigation, published by the Sunday Times Magazine a year before the Charlene Downes one, in September 2007, four years before my esteemed colleague Andrew Norfolk's first piece was published in the Times, 20011. ""

' Equities at a 3year low, Chinese businesses and households have lost $18trn in property values since 2021 '

Deadpan** Tony also reports on that anchor-cutting of the Taiwanese telecomms cable , which a commenter attributes to one of the Russian dark fleet ....

**Deadpan = you have to be very careful reporting from inside China ... !

PS tho that youtube banner is unusually provocative .... !

I'd forgotten she'd resigned the party. That's cheered me right up, thanks AK :)

They have deleted it and apologised. Hopefully we will not see its like again.

EDIT: mind you Alicia Kearns can hardly talk - as one of the few supposed "sane" Tories left, she has been pathetically craven in the past few days.

They have been in dire trouble for a while. This may be their best chance of salvaging some furniture.
