Well, my first exciting new experience in 2025 was two blood transfusions, corrections for increasing anaemia ! Sundry symptoms of that include reduced muscle strength so I'm not walking so well, but the only fix I have is to really concentrate on exercise to get some tone back .

I've been trying to sign up to DeepSeek for about the last 6 hours but it's having none of it. It's not even sending registration codes now and the previous ones didn't work. It's impossible to say whether they really are under attack or simply overwhelmed by so many attempted sign-ups. Which is a shame as I was looking forward to spending the afternoon quizzing it on some obscure history to see if it came out with the same amount of garbage as ChatGPT. I shall persevere.

Good afternoon.
And so the latest "Why haven't you done something we had the chance of doing but failed?" is...mobile phones in schools. I mean, it's only 19 years since Sir Alan Steer said that schools ought to have a policy on them.

Still, the polls suggest that such utter shamelessness isn't overly impressing voters.

'what is flythenest.org'
'what is flythenest.org'
As of my knowledge cutoff in October 2023, Fly The Nest (flythenest.org) appears to be a travel-related website or blog created by a couple or individual who shares their travel experiences, tips, and guides. These types of platforms are popular among travelers who document their journeys, offering advice on destinations, itineraries, budgeting, and other travel-related topics.
If Fly The Nest is a travel blog, it likely includes:
Travel guides: Detailed information about specific destinations.
Personal stories: Experiences and adventures from their travels.
Tips and advice: Practical information on budgeting, packing, transportation, etc.
Photography: Stunning visuals from their journeys.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information, I recommend visiting their website directly or checking their social media profiles. If you have a specific question about the site, feel free to ask!

'If a monkey ate a giraffe would the sun explode'
No, if a monkey ate a giraffe, the sun would not explode. The two events are completely unrelated. The sun's stability is governed by nuclear fusion processes in its core, where hydrogen is converted into helium, releasing energy. This process is entirely independent of anything that happens on Earth, including hypothetical and biologically implausible scenarios like a monkey eating a giraffe.
In reality, a monkey eating a giraffe is not possible due to the vast difference in size and the natural dietary habits of monkeys, which typically consist of fruits, leaves, insects, and small animals. The question seems to be a playful or absurd hypothetical, but it has no basis in science or reality. The sun will continue its life cycle according to astrophysical principles, unaffected by events on Earth.

On a more serious note DeepSeek seems a far more impressive beast than either ChatGPT or whatever that crap is Google have created. It's only been a couple of hours but I haven't been able to make it give contradictory answers, which was extremely easy to do with ChatGPT (though I haven't used it for a while). Having said that it's fine if you ask it a straight factual question but begins to struggle if you ask anything more abstract. For example, ask it who the god of the city of Eridu was and it will correctly say Enki. However ask it who the founding god of Sumer was (Eridu was regarded by them as their oldest city and Enki the creator of mankind and civilisation) and it starts waffling and gives a wrong answer. To answer the question correctly requires an understanding of the question and a bit of thought neither of which DeepSeek is capable of. Curiously a Google search gets it right and DeepSeek gets it wrong despite both referencing exactly the same article -
https://www.historyhit.com/who-were-the ... rian-gods/
So yeah, it's a lot more accurate than the hot mess ChatGPT was when it first arrived, but it's still extremely limited and so called AI won't be taking over the world anytime soon.
[Edit]
If anyone wants to ask it a question feel free to post it here and we can give it a go when I pop back later.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
I remember the lamentable James Purnell when he was Work and Pensions secretary saying he'd rather have a headline in The Sun than waste his mornings explaining himself on the Today programme.
It's now 14 years later they've learned absolutely nothing.

Re: Tuesday 28th January 2025
'If Charles Hawtrey from the Carry On films had assassinated Richard Nixon with an exploding robot monkey how would this have affected the Carry On film franchise?'
If Charles Hawtrey, a beloved actor from the Carry On films, had somehow been involved in assassinating Richard Nixon with an exploding robot monkey, it would have had profound and bizarre consequences for the Carry On franchise. Here's how this surreal scenario might have played out:
Immediate End to the Franchise: The Carry On films were known for their lighthearted, cheeky humor and were a staple of British comedy. If one of its key stars had been involved in such a shocking and politically charged event, the franchise would likely have been immediately tainted. The films would have been seen in a completely different light, and public perception of the series would have shifted dramatically. The franchise might have been discontinued altogether due to the scandal.
Charles Hawtrey's Legacy: Hawtrey's involvement in such an event would have overshadowed his career. Instead of being remembered for his comedic roles, he would have been infamous for his alleged role in the assassination. This would have made it difficult for the Carry On films to continue featuring his work or even referencing him in future projects.
Political and Cultural Impact: The assassination of a sitting U.S. president by a British actor would have caused an international uproar. It could have strained diplomatic relations between the UK and the US, and the Carry On films, being a cultural export, might have been banned or boycotted in the United States. This would have significantly reduced their global audience and profitability.
Shift in Tone: If the franchise had somehow continued, it would have had to drastically alter its tone. The films would no longer be able to maintain their innocent, farcical humor in the wake of such a dark event. They might have attempted to address the incident in a satirical way, but this would have been risky and likely poorly received.
Exploding Robot Monkey as a Trope: The bizarre method of assassination—an exploding robot monkey—might have become a macabre pop culture reference. If the franchise survived, it could have been referenced in a darkly comedic way, but this would have been a significant departure from the series' usual style.
Historical Reinterpretation: Over time, the Carry On films might have been reinterpreted through the lens of this event. Scholars and critics could have analyzed the films for hidden meanings or political commentary, even if none was originally intended.
In summary, the Carry On franchise would have been irreparably damaged by such an event. The scandal would have overshadowed the films' legacy, and the series would likely have been discontinued or radically transformed. Charles Hawtrey's involvement would have become a dark footnote in cinematic history, and the Carry On films would be remembered more for their connection to the assassination than for their comedic achievements.

Re: Tuesday 28th January 2025
I promise not to post any more DeepSeek. I've never bothered posting any ChatGPT responses to my nonsense before because they tend to be blandly disappointing, whereas this thing is genuinely making me laugh. And given what Reeves is purportedly going to be coming out with tomorrow I need all the laughs I can get right now.
Is she really going to follow a Tory proposal and sacrifice half a million sick and disabled people on the altar of growth? It sure looks that way.
Currently her and Starmer remind me of the OCD part of my brain when it's bad and I get things stuck in there going round and round over and over...growth GrOwth growth growth groWth growth...for me it's a sign of excess stress and I've learned to deal with it by ignoring it and just getting on with whatever I planned to do and not panic. A skill Reeves and Starmer have never had the misfortune to have to learn. As a result they're fucking lightweights desperately flailing and being buffeted by right wing breezes they perceive to be hurricanes. It's obvious on their faces. One thing you learn by necessity if you have mental health problems is to become a good actor. The inside may be writhing and seething but the outside keeps smiling as best it can. Watching Reeves on Sunday when she was interviewed by Trevor McDonald was hilarious, her face careened from terrified to indignant to panicked to eventually relieved it was all over. There wasn't a hint of courage or authenticity, more a desperate fear of failure and being found out. I'd even have sympathy for her if she wasn't about to screw me and thousands like me over, but she can't win, if she strikes us down we shall become more powerful than she could possibly imagine. In court.

Nah, I'd just not cosy up to the Sun. If no-one's reading it, what's the point of partnering up with them? Sounds like their wasting their time, when they could be doing something more productive.AnatolyKasparov wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:07 pmHardly anybody still reads the Sun now, that's the really silly thing.Sky'sGoneOut wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 7:47 pmPlus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

If you read the article what they've inexplicably chosen to do is use The Sun to advertise benefit advice to people like me on ESA who are being migrated onto Universal Credit this year. We all fucking know this already. It's been heavily advertised by the DWP themselves and if they felt like another source of information was needed why not the BBC?AnatolyKasparov wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:07 pmHardly anybody still reads the Sun now, that's the really silly thing.Sky'sGoneOut wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 7:47 pmPlus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

This makes no sense at all unless you worked under Blair/Brown, got frozen in time like Buck Rogers, then some Labour idiot defrosted you and gave you a job in the present day.
