Katy Balls krept up to Kirk --
,
The Charlie Kirk I knew** (**met him once)
Before he was fatally shot this week, the activist and ally of Donald Trump met Katy Balls, the Times Washington editor, at an event in Florida
https://archive.ph/35A7z
And no Katy, I'm not surprised he'd been friends with Russell Brand for some time .
"Spreading publicity" for his views, well the vast majority of Times commenters find them deplorable !

Yes, it was all kinda fun spreading hate-messages to those millions of gullible kids .Kirk had recently been to visit Britain and was not a fan of the food or the Muslim population (one of the many views that made him a controversial figure). Halfway through his critique he paused to tell me he wasn’t meaning to upset me: “I don’t want to bash on your country too much but it’s kind of fun to — your country is so sad and so screwed up and I’m not trying to insult you.”
He and his team were enjoying themselves. The Kirk operation had a sense of theatre to it. They talked about the “free publicity” they received from the left. Some of their biggest critics were their “No 1 hype squad”, sharing clips of Kirk saying things liberals were appalled at. It would often be shared through outrage faster than on Kirk’s own channels.

At 13.24 I switched off WATO to avoid the FBI statement, and probably even more Trumpspeak .
It would seem obvious for someone, or actually several people in govt/civil service to calculate the effects of legislation, such as " How many employees would be deported because of it ..."
FOI request incoming ?

"" I am on Charlie Kirk’s hit list,” Patton wrote to her 215,000 followers on Facebook. “His so-called ‘Professor Watchlist,’ run under the umbrella of Turning Point USA, is nothing more than a digital hit list for academics who dare to speak truth to power. I landed there in 2024 after writing commentary that inflamed the MAGA faithful. And once my name went up, the harassment machine roared to life.”
“For weeks my inbox and voicemail were deluged. Mostly white men spat venom through the phone: ‘bitch,’ ‘c*nt,’ ‘n****r.’ They threatened all manner of violence,” she continued.
“They overwhelmed the university’s PR lines and the president’s office with calls demanding that I be fired,” Patton wrote. “The flood was so relentless that the head of campus security reached out to offer me an escort, because they feared one of these keyboard soldiers might step out of his basement and come do me harm.”
“And I am not unique,” she added.
“Kirk’s Watchlist has terrorized legions of professors across this country. Women, Black faculty, queer scholars, basically anyone who challenged white supremacy, gun culture, or Christian nationalism suddenly found themselves targets of coordinated abuse,” Patton wrote.
“Some received death threats. Some had their jobs threatened. Some left academia entirely. Kirk sent the loud message to us: speak the truth and we will unleash the mob!” she continued."" cont'd

It's starting to look like the guy might be a groyper (follower of Nick Fuentes, even more right wing than Kirk).
His parents are both registered republicans and there are photos of him wearing a Trump-jockey costume (don't ask) for previous Halloweens.

Re: Friday 12th September 2025
You try and go semi-off grid for a few days and still can't escape the British media's obsession with some right wing Yank dickhead getting his comeuppance. Don't get me wrong I don't condone political assassination, but the way this prick defended the second amendment alone was enough to demand some hilariously ironic karmic retribution.
Anyway, I got upgraded to a big luxury caravan in a peaceful half empty camp with countless sand martens flying about and hares running around, it was bliss. The camp's high up on cliffs, which on the one hand was great because with binoculars I could see for miles around and watched minke whales, dolphins and seals, but on the other hand was shit because I'm allergic to heights. I tried walking the cliff path to Scarborough and got about 3/4 of the way there before being defeated by a stretch where the 'path' was about 2 ft wide over a sheer cliff round a headland that turned my legs to jelly. I chatted to some lovely people, had good food and beer in village pubs and even the farmer spreading manure on their fields next door didn't spoil the experience (it reeked).
The only semi-downer was Scarborough. I had fond memories of the place from about 20 years ago, and while the beach and seafront are pretty much as I remembered them the town itself is looking shabby but that wasn't the worst of it, it seems to have been infested by a plague of zombie pensioners. You would think that would be fine as they'd be even slower than your classic zombies but half of them had somehow managed to master the use of mobility scooters so were disturbingly speedy if not particularly agile. I hope nobody thinks I'm being ageist here, you should have seen the state of some of them. I sat next to one on the bus back, he didn't say a word. Pretended to be asleep (or dead) when I tried to talk to him. But at least he didn't try to eat my brains.
If you ever find yourself in a place called Gristhorpe check out the Bull Inn (I promised the guy I'd tell my friends).
