Pitiful turnout -- 16.6%, but good to see she was sacked in September :-)

" Lucy Powell was sacked from Keir Starmer’s cabinet in September and has indicated she will refuse a return to a government role so she can speak more openly about the direction of the party in office. "

Liveblog --

" During the campaign, Powell frequently referred to “mistakes” made by the party on issues such as the winter fuel allowance.

In a final message to supporters this week she appeared to criticise a “command and control” culture within government, arguing that “blindly following along” was “a dereliction of our duty to defeat the politics of hate and division”."

Some hope, as opposed to none at all ?

I'm fascinated by HOW some progressive intellectuals were so convinced that the evil CIA started the Ukrainian Revolutions despite all evidence of Ukrainian agency wanting to be free of Russia particularly . Chomsky, Jeffrey Sachs, Scott Horton, are the ones I've particularly in mind, but you can add on various lefty politicians Who are probably still busy wringing their hands and unconsciously repeating some Kremlin talking points ...

Late 2022 Refit introduced me to Anastasiya on Loner Box . Her father had recently been killed. Somebody got her to clean up her language since and here she is at the end of 2024, responding to KremlinSpeak from Scott Horton (the bearded one), 3 minutes only --

( Horton's wife Larisa escaped Odesa with her parents in the late Seventies when she was 7yo iirc, and since then had no doubts that the Orange and Maidan Revolutions were genuine . Interesting marital dynamic there . )

Vlad is from Russia, and always very interesting, tho in this vid he's extraordinarily understanding towards another Kremlin mouthpiece !

Sachs is equal with Trump in his ultra smug expression, just seeing it tends me to violent thoughts !

From the comments he appears very frequently on Italian TV, ALWAYS on Ukraine and always the same twisted version of history .

I don't have a TV but have watched the odd youtube of our RW Billionaire Bolloré's two very popular stations, and they are pure propaganda too .

"" 15 Aug 2025 — The UK's largest bioethanol plant is to close after being dealt a body blow by Keir Starmer's trade deal with Donald Trump.""

One phone call in the middle of an Arsenal match, and Starmer folded . The Chinese are licking their lips --

Revenge For The Opium Wars !
"" Beijing’s embassy issued a statement saying that Jingye was a private Chinese company that “conducts operations on its own”.

The accountancy group EY is managing the Scunthorpe site on behalf of the government. Negotiations between London and Beijing remain tense. Jingye has put a price of at least £1 billion on ceding legal control of British Steel.

However, in an indication of how blurred the lines between the Chinese state and private sectors have become in China, the owners of Jingye have apparently said they would be willing to waive the £1 billion if Starmer’s government approved the new London embassy. ""

The Sunday Times China List shows the Communist Party and entities under its control have bought up £190 billion in British assets, from power plants to schools

Yay rejoice Labour have a new deputy leader who had previously made an absolute fool of herself telling us we'd face a Liz Truss style economic catastrophe if disabled people weren't stripped of their state benefits.

What was it? 16% bothered to vote? And they wonder why.

I have to admit that Caerphilly byelection result has got me thinking for the first time that realistically Starmer could be gone next year.

Labour tried the 'vote for us to keep Farage out' tactic and it spectacularly failed, as it will fail across England next May.

I'm not one for prophesying but I reckon he'll be gone by next Summer.
