It is, 20 odd ° and sunshine !
I have to look up 'transat' in English, deckchair makes me think of long distance travel by liner, , but there is always sunbed
Anyway I inherited one of these emptying a house when people left to go back to their origins . Steel and plastic, so it's weatherproof too.
Now waiting for me under the shady beech tree , where I will take some pleasant reading and the last of the coffee .
Zelensky seriously fucked up politically (yet again) but in the end got it right with a general respected by much of the UA army and society, seriously prompted by public opinion demos and other serious officers --
Nice comment at the Behr " the excluded Starmerites could always eff off and found their own party" .

I've got a mouse! Have seen it the last couple of nights scurrying along the skirting board in my front room before miraculously vanishing. Poor thing must be starving if it's desperate enough to brave a dash when I've got the lights on. And it will be starving because all my food is mouse proofed after a previous encounter with one of its furry brethren. I'd love to know how it's got in. I've checked all points of possible ingress, but even the pipes in the kitchen are sealed where they leave the flat and in the bathroom they're all boxed in. Apparently though mice can happily climb brick walls so maybe its come in through an open window? If so it's the Chris Bonington of the mouse world and deserves respect. I'll be ordering a humane trap tomorrow.

As for Burnham's cabinet. Sigh. Mostly the same faces shuffled about. And some who needed shuffled out not shuffled at all.
It was an opportunity for a total reset. There are literally hundreds of Labour MP's, and presumably some of them at least are talented in various fields of expertise. Yet we mostly have the same old faces shifted to different departments. What's the point? Why not leave them where they were if you're not getting rid of them? All it means is they have to learn a new brief while their previous dept goes through upheaval with a new minister turning up having to learn the ropes. Rory Stewart being the latest in a long line of former ministers who've pointed out the stupidity of such an approach.
Still, at least I'll save 50p on the bus at the expense of some starving African kids so not all bad.
I really do wish Burnham well, not least because he's the best hope we have of getting folks like me (and you) to hold our noses and vote Labour to keep Farage out, but it would have been nice to see a few new young faces in his cabinet, not beholden to memories of faded glory.

Popped into the kitchen and the mouse scurried behind the washing machine. I pulled the machine out and there's a bloody great gaping hole where the plumbing heads downstairs. It seems my rodent friend didn't have to climb mouse Everest after all. I've filled the gaps around the pipes up with scrunched up kitchen foil and taped over it with duct tape so let's see how we get on.
