One Maga source said the new charges were “horrific”, while another said Rubio was “disgusted” by the allegations. A Trumpworld operative stressed that the Tates were “never as close to Trump’s orbit as they claimed”. ((( /cough -- see Barron Trump ?? )))
Questions about the Tates dogged the White House throughout last week. Asked repeatedly if the administration would intervene in the extradition process, the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said bluntly: “No”.
Dave Aronberg, a former state attorney in Palm Beach county in Florida, where Trump has his Mar-a-Lago home, said the ground had shifted under the Tates, as the White House battled the Jeffrey Epstein scandal that has plagued the president’s second term.
“Trump is transactional and he likes people who support him. But with the ghost of Jeffrey Epstein hovering around him, Trump is not going to do any more solids for these accused sex traffickers,” said Aronberg. “If Marco Rubio stops the extradition, then he and the Trump administration will own that.”
But the White House’s move to cut the Tates loose has been condemned as a betrayal by prominent rightwing allies and triggered a new rift in Trump’s Maga movement. “What does it say about the Trump administration?” the far-right podcaster Nick Fuentes demanded on his show.
“I don’t think there’s… a more anti-white government in the world than the Labour government in the United Kingdom,” Fuentes went on. “We’re going to let this country, which is effectively an enemy of the United States… extradite a US citizen and Trump ally on a MeToo charge? It’s a national humiliation.”
Fans online called for a massive show of support outside court when the Tates appear for their next hearing in Miami on Monday, in an attempt to put pressure back on the White House.

Just back from seeing The Odyssey at the Hyde Park Cinema.
I hated it, absolutely detested it. I studied The Odyssey for A level and at Uni so know it pretty well. Odysseus was an anti-hero, a trickster, a liar, a manipulator, but above all he was clever, he was interesting, he was never boring, which is pretty crucial when an epic poem revolves around you.
Unfortunately Nolan has stripped all that from him turning him into a shallow, grim, one note shadow of his literary self, while other characters are similarly shorn of their personalities or just cut completely.
As you would expect it all looks very nice, if it wasn't for the spectacle I doubt I'd have lasted until the end, because I sure as hell didn't give a shit what happened to any of the talking cardboard cutouts Nolan populated his film with.
And where are the Olympian Gods? The reason Odysseus has such an absolute ball ache getting back to Ithaca (while losing the entirety of his crew) is because he keeps pissing off the gods, Poseidon and Helios in particular. Any sign of them in the film? Nope, even Zeus doesn't make an appearance. The gods were integral characters to the epic both in plot and for pure entertainment value, yet they've been excised entirely.
Princess Nausicaa who finds him washed up naked on the beach? Gone. Even his own Dad has been disappeared.
It's the Odyssey with all that's wonderful about it surgically removed, leaving a shrivelled joyless mockery of a thing that I can't believe is being so well received.
I couldn't care less about any of the culture war shit. And I don't hold the Greek epics I studied sacred, I've always found The Illiad interminably tedious. But The Odyssey is supposed to be its antithesis, morally ambiguous, with magic, monsters, sexy witches and a hero you probably wouldn't buy a second hand ship from.
You'd think it would be a challenge to suck all joy from such a tale but Nolan has managed it.
Out of ten? I'd have gone 5 because as I say it looks nice but the godawful script, wooden characters, and complete misunderstanding of what made a 2500 year old epic great means I'm going to have to give it a 2.
It made the 1963 Jason and the Argonauts look like Shakespeare.
